Dunno if ye've heard anything about it, but Rafa has been donating to the Hillsborough Family Support Group again. He'd raised the money through ticket sales of an event where he held an interview session with fans and the money was donated through Montse's Foundation.

Other groups and charities, including Rowan Park School, Wirral Autistic Society, and the Lily Centre have also received donations through her organisation.

    Just reading this:

    http://apps.facebook.com/theguardian/football/2011/dec/29/transfer-window-club-guide-premier-league

    And for Liverpool specifically:
    Liverpool

What they need A striker, desperately. A lack of ruthlessness in front of goal has cost Liverpool already and with Andy Carroll still struggling to make an impact and Luis Suárez set to be banned for a lengthy spell, the club's top-four hopes are likely to evaporate unless a poacher is brought in next month.

Money to spend John W Henry, the club's principal owner, has backed Kenny Dalglish with sizeable funds during the last two transfer windows and is likely to do so again.

Ins and outs Liverpool have supposedly told Aston Villa that they are interested in Darren Bent while there also could be a move for a midfielder to cover Lucas Leiva's long-term injury. Swansea's Joe Allen and Fiorentina's Riccardo Montolivo have been mentioned. Sachin Nakrani

The media are only delighted to portray their own version of events. Consider we broke even in the first window or there about how can they claim that Henry backed Daglish with sizeable funds?

Because Suarez was being bought anyway and also he permitted a good chunk of the £50m to be spent when he could have just kept it. (if he should have is another argument).

    Bad feeling about tonight's game.

Might just see our first home defeat of the season :(

I'd actually fancy our chances against Newcastle than a smaller club.

We play better against the "stronger" teams at home.

4-0 win coming up, maybe even a 5-1 if the Ghost of second game after Xmas decides to show up. :D

All things considered, the most likely outcome is a draw after a great home performance with Carroll missing several chances and Krul playing a blinder.

If you genuinely think Newcastle will win, odds were as high as 6-1 yesterday.

.....and Liverpool having approx 10-15 corners, hitting the woodwork 2-3 times and missing a peno.

For those asking about Leandro Damiao - the last I've heard from sources on him is that Shakhtar were having talks for him. This of course does not mean that PL clubs will not be in for him, but I myself am unaware of any firm interest from any right now. In my personal opinion, I think he's a top talent and has all the physical tools and finishing ability to succeed in the PL - I wouldn't hesitate to buy him, even for the mooted €25M-30M price.

He was linked with us in the last window. Reports below claimed we scouted him at matches on a good few occasions.

put it this way you rarely see united using the 'keeper had a blinder' line as an excuse. that's no coincidence. they're much more ruthless with their finishing. we're tentative. without that ruthless streak you're always gonna be able to use the keeper excuse for your own failings. We need to be more cold-blooded in front of goal. Nerves are getting the better of us

Actually that 5-1 win over Newcastle that Kess posted Shay Given was absolutely outstanding in it. Could have won by ten easily if he wasnt so good that day!

Our finishing and general chance creating was so much better back then than it is now though.

ya I know what you mean, it seems if we dont get the lead by half time you get that feeling that no1 really wants to step up.

I'm a football fan so my memory goes no further than 2 games

With Suarez out tonight and if Stevie G doesn't play somebody has to step up for you lot to create chances, I can see you being too predictable without those players.

Will be interesting to see if Carroll is given a chance again, my moneys on Kuyt and Bellamy up front.

I hope we score 5 so we don't have yet another fecking pointless debate about hitting the woodwork and bad finishing! After 5 months of it I'm losing the will to live!

Probably , seeing as it's a cup game and goal difference is immaterial.

That said, I could almost sense a nil nil draw and a replay...

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Nah i was being sarcastic, that phrase has been posted on here a lot over the last few weeks. I'd be very sceptical about our ability to hammer anyone tbh, Oldham included.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,347 ✭✭✭✭Grayditch

We're not gonna hammer Oldham. They too have goalposts and a keeper, like.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,284 ✭✭✭Glico Man

The only thing we're likely to hammer is the ball...

#lfc expressed interest in Bent but way below their valuation. AVFC admitted it hasn't been right move for Bent but won't take huge loss
