How old is your iMac? If it's recent (2 years old, or younger, I'm guessing - I don't really know what Apple's past hardware is like), then the game should be playable.

When you say that it's at lowest settings, did you include screen resolution?

It's defineitly older than that.I got it off my sister when she got the new silvery ones and that was about 2 years ago.

And ehm I don't know what that is.It just auto set to low video quality.

I doubt running Skyrim via Windows on the same computer woiuld help. I'd imagine it'd make things slightly worse if anything

Well I tried doing it manually but it didnt work.Guess this means that this is going to a new home.

Hmm... I don't know if the Auto-Detect would change your resolution - when you launch the game, and it brings up the Play, Options, Data Files window, select Options and look for the Resolution.

Since it's an iMac, I'm guessing the default resolution would be fairly high. If that is the case, you can drop that down a bit (just try and keep the same length:width ratio so that you're still using up full screen space) and it should help with the performance.
Guess this means that this is going to a new home.
If it's already bound to your Steam account, I don't think that's possible (legally). IIRC, the Skyrim installer requires you to validate the CD-key with Steamworks at the beginning of the installation, so it would be locked to your account at that point. You can try, of course, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

If i give them my password etc and they sign in with it on their own computer could they use it?I don't use steam so it'd make no difference to me.

If you've done absolutely nothing with the account bar installing Skyrim, you could do that I suppose :P They'll have to download all the game files from Steam though, since the disc install (to my knowledge) only works for the first installation with the specific CD-key

I only installed skyrim and I doubt i'll ever use it again now.The quality is just too bad.I'm sure I'll find it a home.

Crafted 7 coal and got a game i already owned...gotta love Valve. May as well craft it though given the odds for the sweepstakes :/

Anyone play Xotic? It's on the daily deal page, but unsure if i'll bother getting it.

Anybody know if you can unlink your facebook account after you link it to your Steam account?

I've bought too many games this time around, I won't even have the time to play more than one of them at a time. I was considering getting Shogun 2 because I enjoyed the demo but based on the length of games it doesn't seem like I'll even have time to properly play it. Also got Skyrim and Batman for Christmas, and the former is a renowned timesink.

I've become bored of these achievements. Only managed a single gift so far and it was a coupon. Most of them don't seem fun enough to bother with, such as the grinding in L4D2.

Downloading Die Hard Trilogy 2 now, didn't really play it before, but I loved the original so I'm hoping this one lives up to it. It's gonna take two hours to download unfortunately though. :)

In the first four days of having Skyrim, I played 36 hours. I am either a hero or a sad, sad case.

Yes, go to Edit Profile in the Community tab and you'll see the option there.

I've completed 16 achievements so far and mostly gotten coal. The Binding of Isaac achievement is a bitch to do cos it's randomly generated. I've spent an hour and a half and not even seen the dude!

You have anything good to trade?

Nothing good really, only have a -50% coupon for the Strong Bad game and a -25% Dead Island coupon. The latter's pretty much useless while the former seems like it might be worth something to a select few people. Either way you (or anybody who wants them) can have them for free if ye like.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,924 ✭✭✭✭RolandIRL

Na, i'm good. I got 50% vouchers for Valve, Rockstar and Binding of Isaac myself, which are only any good if there's a daily deal on them. BoI's useless to me though since i already have it.

If you need the trading achievement though, I'll trade for something. See steam profile link in sig.

I'm good, managed to convince a friend to trade with me between the hours of no inventory access.

Grrr.... emulation will be the death of me.... PSX keeps crashing, giving the error "Thread tried to read/write to an address that is does not have access" which is pissing me oof.. So I tried getting ePSXe, and that won't even boot the BIOS. :(

And Assassin's Creed: Revelations is seriously starting to bore me and I'm only on sequence.... I want to finish it for the story.... but the gameplay is atrocious.... how did they ruin a brilliant game? :(

I found the flow to pick right up when I managed to get a master assassin in each den to prevent templar attacks. Den defence is a disgrace, though.

I managed to finish it regardless, I liked it in the end. Getting full sync on every memory would have been a chore though, I didn't trouble myself with it.
How many masyef keys have you now? The mission to get the second one was pure class in my opinion, probably my favourite part of the game.

I think I'm just before the second one (had to stop playing for 2 weeks over the xmas), I'm currently trying to level up a few Assasins for the den's, which is not really fun... so hopefully when I've that done it'll pick up..

The tomb-like mission early in the game was class, I love that aspect of the series, just sitting on a beam looking around to see where to jump to is so much fun.

I'm not even bothering to read the 100% synch things anymore, I'm just playing the honeybadger way. If stealth is to my advantage, I'll do it. If not, I'll hack, slash, shoot, and call assassin's all over the shop!

    Possible mission
y'know that mission where you have to knock out the jesters in the restricted area? Well instead of sneaking past like 20 guards, I hid in a haystack and called in the recruits and they slaughtered everyone! very satisfying. :pac:

Everyone's Skyrim save is buggy I think. There's a quest I can't complete because a dialog option won't show up and it freezes inexplicably in certain dungeons.

Still, it's fun finding the bugs that allow you to stand right beside enemies bashing their heads in while they don't even try to stop you.

    In the Ratway?

I had that issue, and had to download and put yer mans dialog into the voices folder. Thank God I'm on PC.

Picked up heavy rain today for 15 quid, can't wait to play :D Already finished it the once, but brilliant game.

I've put 8 hours into Skyrim so far which isn't much relative to everybody else apparently. From what I've played it's a really fun game and surprisingly not disappointing despite the hype. I've been playing Arkham City more though, obviously because being Batman beats being Dovahkiin.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,498 ✭✭✭Jamie Starr

As of today I've put 50 hours into Skyrim. It's fun, but not as amazing as I thought it would be- it's extremely similar to Oblivion. An improvement on Oblivion in almost every possible way, but the core of it, the missions, disappointed the incredibly high imaginary standards I had for the game. Oh well, maybe next-gen Elder Scrolls games will satisfy me.

It is a testament to the game though, that someone who's spent 50 hours with it, and intends to spend more, isn't totally satisfied with it.

Playing Portal 2 now...already did the single player before, but nice to do it again on PC and not at a friends' house.

    Anyone fancy doing co-op?

Batman arkham city is frigging awesome :D

Looks like I've just lost my Xbox Live Account... I've never been asked for a password on the console before, and after I downloaded that new dashboard it's asking me for my password. Which I don't remember, because the email address I used was specifically set up for the account, with no intention of ever using it for anything else....

ugh! I don't want to start over at 0Gamerscore again! I just broke the 14000 mark. :(:(

Would you not have a recovery address for that email account?
