Darren Bent would not a good signing for Liverpool unless we could get him for substantially less than 15m and even then I wouldn't want him as his all round play is not good enough for a team that we hope will be challenging in a year or two

With Krasic being out if favour at Juve, I'd love us to take a crack at getting him in. If he clicked, he'd be a great attacking right option. Pace, close control, huge work ethic and strong - eye for goal too. Probably wouldn't suit Carroll as much as he would suit being on the right of a mobile, attacking 3 behind another mobile striker.

Krasic is poor enough most of the time i watch him. His agent has been talking up a move, i doubt there would be many suitors amongst top clubs myself. Look at the players who have been keeping him out at Juve too, it wouldn't bode well.
To be honest i'd probably take Bent at 15 million as a 1.5 season stop-gap if we could get him for that figure in January (absolutely no higher than 15 million mind you). He's not a long term solution, but he could only improve on our current strike rate. Most will laugh, but i think Defoe would be a cracking loan move, i'm sure it would never happen though. I think he'd welcome coming to Anfield, surely more chance of a game with us than the current Spurs set up, but Harry would not go for it as long as we are even an outside bet for top 4.

Buying Defoe, whatever possibility there is of that but there is absolutely zero chance that Spurs would loan a player to a team that is looking to challenge them for a top 4 place.

The 2 positives I can see from tomorrow regarding Suarez is a game in the stands might be no harm to see how the others play, movement and runs and stuff.

And he's in dire need of a break with city on Tuesday, a week rested and pissed off Suarez is something to look forward too.

He's been the most consistent-scoring striker in the PL over the last number of seasons

This would be perfect for me:

    Reina

    Johnson Skrtel Agger Enrique

    Henderson Adam

    Gerrard

    Suarez Downing

    Bent

Give Gerrard a free role and let him run riot

Bent for me is a step sideways.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

I'd be alright with signing Bent. Very good player & his scoring record can't be argued with.

I think Hoillett could go on to be a very good player. Plenty of pace and skill in that lad. Doubt Blackburn would let him go cheap though (which would be only right from their pov tbh)

Sinclair is a decent player but I would not see him as a massive upgrade on what we have as he is a bit inconsistent.

Bent is a decent player, but he's going to cost way more than he's worth.

So that probably means we're signing him

Would have Lucas in there ahead of Henderson but aside from that, not too bad.

Contract is up EOS and I can't see him signing a new one. Would they risk losing him for compensation (% of future fee + a couple of million) or would they cash in now and try to get 7m+.

Bent? 28 next year, English tax and good talent. Meh.. We could do better both talent and financially.

They might not have a choice. His contract is almost up so he could go for free next summer. Don't think they could chance that so they might be willing to deal in January.

Bent is a player that i have always liked but his form this season has been no great shakes.

I would prefer to see carroll given a decent run rather than sign bent tbh.

I think Bent would finish off a good few of the chances we are are creating but not taking at the moment.
We don't need an forward with great technical ability or pace, just one that can kick the ball into the net from 6 yards out when the rest of the team work to put it on a plate for him.

Re: Bent .... what other club looking to finish in the Top 4 would buy him ? (Spurs actually got rid) .... no thanks.

#LFC have made a tentative enquiry for Olivier Giroud; 25-year-old striker from HSC Montpellier. Club have had talks with agent Peter Werner

Darren Bent isn't needed. He can finish and score but if Carroll regains the form he had at Newcastle, he is as effective a player as Bent. No need to spend the 15m plus whatever else extra in wages, just let Carroll have a run in the team. There were flashes of it in the last game where he could/should have had a goal or two for himself only for some wonder saves.

At least the chances are being created for him to miss, they will start to come. I would liken it to United in the run of 1-0's and the draw against Newcastle. There were chances being created and it all looked good, but a combination of bad luck/good defending kept the score down and didnt reflect the full facts, but something has clicked in the last couple of games and look what has happened.

Just give the lad a chance and some decent service and save the 15m on an average English striker that isnt going to propel you into the top 4.

A very good twitter account, as is there Facebook page. But take everything with a pinch of salt. They will retweet every rumour going. Nevertheless, a very good resource to follow for rumours. They follow a lot of European football and will always say if DC is at a match

Swansea City close in on Rory Donnelly deal

Rory Donnelly has agreed terms on a move to Premier League side Swansea City

The Welsh club has agreed a fee with Irish Premiership side Cliftonville to sign the 19-year-old and Donnelly has accepted personal terms in principle.

"I think we now have an agreement on both sides in terms of Cliftonville and personal terms with the player," said Swans boss Brendan Rodgers.

"So we hope to complete that fairly soon."

Swansea had a £100,000 bid accepted for Donnelly two weeks ago but Everton looked to be the favourite when they made a higher offer before Christmas.

But Swansea are closing in on signing Donnelly, who it is understood always favoured a move to south Wales, after making an improved bid.

Donnelly, who had also held talks with Liverpool, was in Swansea last week to visit the Liberty Stadium and the club's training facilities.

Now Swansea hope he can undergo his medical on Friday and complete his move when the January transfer window opens on Sunday.

"He will be over here for the game against Tottenham on Saturday," said Rodgers.

"We will look to complete the medical tomorrow and get that put to bed and the boy can then come over and work on developing his game.

"I will talk more about him once the deal is done but he is coming here without pressure, he is coming from a part-time level.

"He has shone in the early part of the season and there have been other clubs interested, but we will talk more once he signs the papers."

Cliftonville boss Tommy Breslin believes the personal touch of Swansea's manager Rodgers, a fellow Northern Irishman, was significant.

Breslin said: "Rory said that he was impressed by Swansea and by what Brendan Rodgers had to say.

"He said the facilities were good and that there was a great team spirit with no egos. The Northern Irish link with Brendan probably helped too."

Donnelly is set to be Swansea's first signing of the January transfer window and Rodgers wants "a couple of players" to aid their Premier League survival bid as the Swans have won just once in eight games.

Bah thought he might've been a decent signing.

Darren Bent has only 2 more goals than Carroll this season and is 28 in Feb so he's not exactly banging them in.

I'm not sure he would be the best option tbh.

I thought it was all about youth and resale value with FSG ?

He could be a quick fix though at the right price but I can't see it happening.

And I'm glad we didn't buy either of them. Both very overrated, like Bent is. At least Milner has age on his side. Bent would be a woeful signing, but a very typical one of us to make.

I'd have to disagree about Milner.

    Very good player IMO

In fairness milner has been very good whenever playing this season and we could definetly have done with him this year

I think he is good, but was overpriced. I wouldn't want us to sign him, he has more huff and puff than real class imo
