What scam is this?

    A friend is selling an item on donedeal.
    Today he got a text from a foreign number asking about it.

    He replied by email to a yahoo.co.uk email and the guy now says he will paypal the asking price plus 50eur for the item incl postage to his girlfriend...

    Its obviously a scam, but how does it work?
    He says he will paypal the cash if we send the request. Can he use just my mates paypal request for cash to scam my mate?
