also Carroll coming on for 7 minutes was pathetic.

and coming on for Suarez just compounded it. why give him a rest for 7 minutes?

Kenny needs to get a bit more imaginative.

Yeah, now I think Rafa is a pool legend but one of the things that grated me about him was his subs. Often he'd wait until the 80th minute to make a sub, and a lot of the time the sub was nonsensical.

After seeing the Newcastle highlights it looks like Andy Carroll might be a poor mans Demba Ba:eek: They got a terrific replacement there in all fairness

People quickly forget! Rafa would look at his watch at 60 mins and the first sub would be made 3 mins later, like clockwork in the last couple of seasons.

that was at best limp, and at worst pathetic.

Adam should've won the game, but either way, bar the first 20 minutes, we were ridiculously lackadaisical in everything we did.

Enrique was the one bright spark, and poor Suarez was so isolated.

our big problem, for some reason, was getting runners to support the front. it was just so stop-start in terms of our build-up play.

if a Roy team had put in those 70 minutes or so, we'd be screaming our heads off.

another clean sheet, but that's not good enough against Wigan, with all due respect.

we need to get our fingers out going forward, we really do.

Suarez at times had plenty of support and he did use it, he usually had to as he was well marked. The problem, well we all know it at this stage.

A number of people have said it before but Kenny does not inspire with his substitution choices. Waiting to the 71st minute to bring on Bellamy and Shelvey was a disgrace. At least with Benitez would were guaranteed a sub around 60 minutes. The amount of crosses we had into the box where there was no one on the end of was crazy - absolutely perfect for Carroll who should've been on much earlier and told to stay up top.

We are really missing Lucas, Wigan were walking through our midfield at times. I'm not putting the blame down to not having Lucas but our strongest team right now is Carroll and Suarez up top with Bellamy and Downing on the wings ... Will we ever see it? Doubtful. But if that is the case, the purchase of Downing was pointless.

Way too late for me too. Maxi, Kuyt and Suarez just weren't gelling.

The problem is playing a 4-4-2 leaves Adam exposed, he's left in a hard place, he has to provide the AM side, which he tried, but it leaves us open. Plus Kuyt, Downing and Maxi were just poor. We were lucky not to concede tonight. A top 6 side would tear us to shreds.

I thought Lucas out would have meant a more gung ho approach but what's the point when 2 goals is seen as a huge scoreline!

Adam/Spearing might work but it has to a 4-2-3-1

So I wonder, will Kenny show he has some balls and take a risk on some of the youth players we have. We might speculate that they are not ready, but bar trying them you'll never know. We need a poacher, why not give Adam Morgan a chance? We need speed down the wings, why not try Sterling. Both might not be ready, but both would add to the side. Sterling's brute speed alone down the wing would bring a lot. The likes of Adorjan, Suso and Coady surely deserve a chance. They can't play much worse than the likes of Downing, Carroll and based on tonights performances - Kuyt and Maxi

Adam Morgan is nowhere near ready IMO.

He struggled in a couple of reserve games a couple of weeks ago.

True and I agree - Ngoo, Adorjan and Eccleston have all played a lot better. But Morgan's a poacher and with the amount of chances we're getting, he would be bound to stick some away. Ngoo could easily do the same job and he offers a very strong hold up option up front.

My concern is, if we're relying on Suarez to score, then we should be worried.

I look at the back end of the 08-09 season when we were scoring goals for fun. The 5-0 win against Villa, which followed the 4-0 victory over Madrid and the 4-1 victory over United were three matches which instantly spring to mind. Back then we played with such fluidity, pass and move, pass and move. Nowadays, we seem incapable of playing this game. Suarez and Johnson link up well. Suarez and Maxi link up well but thats about it.

What we are lacking more than anything else right now is a leader on the pitch.

If only the red card had stayed in the refs pocket, we'd have seen a complete different scoreline :(

downing has so far been the worst of our signings has been shocking bar 1 or 2 games.
we're not talking about a young foreign lad who might need time to adapt he's an England international with a couple of hundred games in the premiership that just isn't performing at all
front 6 tonight were a disgrace

That's the kind of game that's as bad as a loss in terms of points dropped.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Are you for real man? I think people genuinely have forgotten how dirt poor we were under Roy. That performance tonight would have been a historically good one for the hodge.

From the BNP newsletter. A few quotes though
Fernando Torres has lifted the lid on his acrimonious departure from Anfield, claiming the club lied to him and that Liverpool's American owners made false promises.

The Chelsea striker says he was let down by the Fenway Sports Group before his acrimonious £50million transfer to Stamford Bridge in January.

‘The Liverpool fans don’t know the truth about why I signed for Chelsea,’ the 27-year-old, who spent three-and-a-half seasons at Anfield, told Spanish television.

‘The fans don’t even know half of what happened. They don’t know what the people in charge at Liverpool are like - they have a completely different perception of what they are like.

‘They made promises that they didn’t keep and I left because I realized I didn’t have time to be part of a project that would take years.’

The former Kop idol, who netted 81 times in 142 Liverpool appearances, also attempted to build bridges with the Anfield faithful.

‘I have nothing against the Liverpool fans,’ he said. ‘I didn’t want to leave Liverpool the way I did but the club lied. I was let down and I don’t understand why the fans hate me.’

And while he has scored just five times in 35 Chelsea appearances, Torres is backing himself to rediscover his goalscoring touch for the Blues and Spain.

‘It’s true that Vicente Del Bosque is worried about me and my form for Chelsea. It’s up to me to go back to being the striker I was before.

‘If I go back to how I was a few years ago, I will again play an important role in the Spanish national team.’

‘I am going to try to be very humble and get back into the Chelsea starting line-up,' said Torres, who has seen chances limited thanks to the resurgence of Didier Drogba.

He also spoke of the pain of being on the Chelsea bench – but says he should be shown more respect given his achievements in the game.

‘My form has not been good but I am world and European champion and I deserve more respect,’ he said.

‘It’s hard being on the bench but I respect the players who are playing. I’m going to support the team and get back in,’ he said.

What a bizarre statement. A 0-0 draw seems rather lenient in the context of his warped view, surely they deserved far worse?
