    Just whiling away an hour or two browsing old Swiss makes, maybe looking to pick up an old automatic as a daily beater.

    How are we to manage avoiding a fake, fraken, etc. without being an expert?! Ok, say I rule out India as apparently that hasn't a great rep? Anywhere we can be confident in buying from in the more tropical areas? This is where most of these seem to be located.

    I see one seller that seemed to have some nice Titus and Titoni that looked reasonable (if a bit overly refurbed), fair enough it's in Thailand but with 99.7% rating and 3000+ sales... however, they're also selling something that looks awfully like my Seiko diver... apparently it's a 1980s Solvil Titus for $300!

    Do we have to dismiss ratings, history, number of sales, etc? Is there any way to have confidence in a seller that isn't in Europe / US?


    As aside, welcome thoughts on finding a cheapish (less than €200) vintage Swiss automatic as a daily beater? Like the look of the Titoni Airmaster.

    Short answer; not really. There are a lot of fakes/dirt out there. Personal research is where it's at. That and buy the seller, not the watch. I'd stick with EU countries too for the most part.

    Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.
