I'd really love to be able to sit in on the deliberations, just to see wtf it is that is causing them such an issue. A 8 hour debate about context? Surely not.

I'd say the complication is the fact that any ruling that they make could be set as precedence and therefore need to make sure everything is done correctly.

So the decision could already by made, maybe even last week, but they're just making sure that it's a "water tight" ruling?

They have to get things right legally as if it's a guilty verdict, Liverpool will certainly appeal so it would have to be watertight. That's why the delay makes me think it could be bad news for Suarez.

But what do I know :o

I'd be willing to bet that we could see how things were going and threatened a Judicial Review of the decision if we're not happy with the outcome.

Judicial Review is usually based on things like fair procedures and makes sure the decision was arrived at in a fair manner, rather than challenging the decision itself. It's a roundabout way of challenging a decision, typically you'd appeal but here you're attempting to say the decision is invalid because of the process used to reach it.

The FA could be seeking advices on whether their approach to handling the case could be challenged on such grounds, because they won't want to look silly in the High Court.

    Poor?

Well his international record is good. On wikipedia his stats are slightly different, saying he only has 90 club goals, which is not great, especially considering half of them came when he was much younger in his first stint at Koln.

Edit: They must be just league goals, further down it says he has the 108 you were talking about. Point about most of them goals coming when he was much younger still stands though.

He's scored a lot of goals for FC Koln this year.

As a Wycombe-based person, I can tell you, if developed right, he'll be destined for big stuff.

He had a dodgy spell when he was at Bayern to be fair. Managers didn't favor him and he wasn't given much a run in the team so his goal tally to appearance ratio took a bit of a hit then. Also, much of his time at Koln was in the 2nd division I'm sure.

That said think hes got almost a goal a game this year for Koln in the league so hes showing he can cut it again at that level. He is older now as well, 26, so I think the pressure of coming to a big club is something he'd be more able to deal with unlike his stint with Bayern. I really do think he'd be a fantastic asset if he was to sign for Liverpool.

I was shocked myself, but he is actually 28. Didnt think he was that old at all.

What I'm thinking is that John Terry has been implicated in racist accusations as well so they are probably looking in part also.

So in some ways they are taking longer with this one but at the same time looking into the John Terry issue should liverpool bring it up in their appeal.

Born June 4th 1985 according to google searches, makes him 26?

I'd be shocked if he was older tbh!

Wiki has him as 12 August 1983, as does the Schalke website

    Huntelaar

I don't think Podolski is the kind of striker we need. He's very strong and direct, but not especially subtle or refined. More suited to playing slightly wider as he does for Germany, I reckon (and we have Bellamy, Kuyt, Downing, Maxi etc for there).

Huntelaar would be an interesting one. He doesn't offer much else except for goals, but that's exactly the role we need filled. He also had a frankly telepathic partnership with Suarez at Ajax. He's never quite hit the heights expected, but most players are lucky to play for even one of the likes of Ajax, Madrid and Milan, so he obviously has something about him.

If he could could be got on the cheap (and it seems that Shalke are actually looking at Podolski, and very happy with Raul, so there's a possibility...), he could be a great buy.

Not sure if this has been posted already. Piece by Tim Vickery on the Suarez racism issue.

Ahh, we're talking about two different players :D I was on about Podolski.

But yeah, slightly surprised by Huntelaars age alright.
