Hi boardsies, hoping one of you can help me out.

I can't get into anything on my laptop without the above scam looking for my cc details.

Does anyone know a step by step guide to remove this. I've searched for a solution but can't read the instructions properly from YouTube as I'm now restricted to my phone.

    Cheers

Reboot your pc but as its starting up, keep pressing the F8 button. You should get a list of options, choose safe mode with networking. When the pc is logged in try to find the program you installed and delete it. Also download spybot and run it.

You should have an internet connection, thats the whole point of the "with networking" part. How have you been connecting to the internet previously to this?

Yes, I have Internet connection but it's not connecting while in safe mode with networking. Could it be something to do with the settings? I was thinking of doing a system restore to a date before this virus embedded itself. Is that a good or bad idea?

What I was trying to say is they you should still have your internet connection while in safe mode with networking. How do you connect to the internet? I can't help unless I know that. Once we fix your internet connection you can just follow the guide above. No don't do a system restore as some malicious files may be left behind.

Internet is wireless bb. When I open IE, it says "Internet explorer cannot display the web page" (google) And when I click " diagnose connection problems" it's telling me they cannot run while windows is in safe mode and to restart in normal mode  nothing wrong with the Internet connection, I'm using it now on the phone.

will need access to another PC and a usb key to download and transfer this

    Download OTL to your Desktop
    • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
    • Click the Quick Scan button. Do not change any settings. The scan wont take long.
    • When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
    • Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files here

You might need to click on the wireless icon in the bottom right corner in the taskbar and connect to the internet like you did the first time you connected to the internet. Are you 100% sure you're in safe mode with networking? the whole point of it is that your internet should work exactly as it did outside of safe mode. In regular safe mode the internet wont work. Make sure you're selecting safe mode with networking at the selection screen and not just pressing enter or something.

Thats very strange, anyway use the guide above rather than OTL, it will take longer but its a proper solution and will do a better job, it should also get rid of any other infections you have.

Well, after following the link from mp22 and a 4.5 hour scan of my laptop, I am now free from the virus. (I hope!)

Thanks to you all for your knowledge and help!
