Higuain's out of favour with Madrid, Podolski looks set to move in the summer, as he's stalling over a new deal. Cavani might be tempted, seeing as we have Suarez and Coates. Llorente and Soldado won't be on mega bucks and neither club is in a position to refuse big money bids.

They may be optimistic, but I'd rather try for them than settle for an injury-prone, out-of-form, sulking past-it. And that's ignoring all the massive baggage surrounding his time at the club and the manner of his departure.

In the cold light of day, with the 2 year old memories of the old Fernando Torres put aside, the 2012 Fernando Torres is not worth the risk or the hassle.

If Liverpool signed Higuain it would be a world gone mad

That Chilean guy that us and half of Europe are interested in Eduardo Vargas is live on Setanta now he already has scored within the first few minutes looks like he has a bit about him like a combo of Suarez and Hernandez off Man u

    Match over 3-0
he assisted the 2nd when his shot was parried, then scored a great solo effort for his 2nd he has great acceleration and Suarez like close control, I expect him to be at a top European club come Jan 31st

It is naive of you to think Kenny would not be affected in the slighest by such things.

Rafa certainly was when he refused to sign Owen on a free.

Whoa whoa whoa, when are you talking about? Just before he signed for Utd? Even if Rafa had the option of signing him for a free, which we don't even know he did, then his decision to not sign him was proven to be one of his best decisions! How you can put that solely down to a grudge is beyond me! Absurd.

I was watching a few videos of Torres for us today, showed me just how much of a soft spot I have for the fella, however, I still wouldn't take him back. IMO it has absolutely nothing to do with how he left the club or any subsequent events but he just isn't the same player he was in his first few seasons with us. He's no spring chicken either and I just feel there's better value for money out there (wages wise aswell).

Also on the topic of that article and Suarez, I know this sounds stupid considering Suarez racially abused Evra (ALLEDGEDLY) but Evra come's off as an absolute prick. He come's off as if no matter what happens to him in life he's going to put it down to being caused by his colour of skin, sounds as if he think's the whole world's out to get him because of his skin colour. That's if the quotes are true which we all know might not be accurate.

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Negro

Interesting, read under the 'in other languages' section, refers to the connotations of the word Negro in Latin America, with particular reference to Uruguay

    Xmas bonus for big Andy...............

Andy Carroll will pick up a staggering £150,000 loyalty bonus from Liverpool next month despite making only 13 starts since his £35million move from Newcastle.

Carroll negotiated the windfall, which will be paid in each year of his contract at Anfield, when he signed last January. The 22-year-old striker, who has scored only four times for his new club, has a deal worth £60,000 a week basic but he is also paid an additional £10,000 for his image rights and a further £5,000 for each appearance.

He is also entitled to a salary increase if he plays in more than 60 per cent of Liverpool's matches this season. That appears unlikely after Carroll's failure to earn an automatic place in Kenny Dalglish's side.

He had been detailed to partner Luis Suarez when the Uruguay striker was signed from Ajax, but they have shown little sign of developing an understanding.

Carroll's reputation was enhanced when he scored 11 times in 19 appearances for Newcastle last season. That form led to an England call-up and Liverpool's record transfer fee.

But, a year into his new career, Carroll has failed to justify either. Injuries have affected his form and confidence, but there is also persistent talk in the game that he has failed to settle on Merseyside because he is homesick.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/liverpool/8957294/Luis-Suarez-racism-hearing-reputations-at-stake-as-panel-attempt-to-unravel-most-complicated-of-cases.html

Interesting, this article says that Evra allegedly accused the ref of being racist as well.

Events started in the 57th minute when Suárez fouled Evra, tempers really flaring at an ensuing Liverpool corner. Amid some pushing and shoving, Evra demanded to know from Suárez why he had kicked him. Suárez replied that things happen in games and to move on.
It is here that Evra claims Suárez first became racially abusive; the Frenchman was subsequently quoted on the French station Canal Plus, saying that “there are cameras, you can see him [Suárez] say a certain word to me at least 10 times’’. Suárez categorically denies using that word, negro, in the goalmouth.
Watching events from the press box, it was pretty clear that Evra was incensed yet the players around seemed unaware of any dispute. The testimony of those closest, United’s David de Gea and Liverpool’s Dirk Kuyt, will play a part.
There is an expectancy that it will be confirmed to the panel that nothing offensive was heard in the goalmouth.
Shortly after the corner, referee Andre Marriner called the pair together for a lecture. Suárez apologised and attempted to pat the United full-back on the head. “Don’t touch me, you South American,’’ Evra is alleged to have said. To which, the Uruguayan replied: “Porque, Negro?’’
Suárez’s defence rests on the argument that such expressions are commonplace in South America. It is considered offensive, according to Suárez’s defence, only when used with a pejorative adjective or when the tone is aggressive. Footage of Suárez’s body language will be scrutinised by the panel.
This will inevitably form part of Liverpool’s case, that when Suárez did use the word “negro” he was not in aggressive mood, more apologetic towards Evra.
Yet Suárez must prove he was unaware of the sensitivity towards the word “negro” in England. The former Ajax player will also have to explain why, having lived for three years in Holland, he had still to grasp northern European intolerance to such a word.
Despite Marriner’s intervention, Evra remained furious. When he caught Kuyt two minutes later, Evra responded to Marriner’s caution by allegedly claiming: “You’re only booking me because I’m black.’’

Kenny Dalglish today revealed that Steven Gerrard has stepped up his rehabilitation - but refused to give a timescale on when the skipper will return to action.

The midfielder has made great strides in his recovery from an ankle infection and was back in light training at the end of last week.
However, the boss remains cautious over when the No.8 will be available for selection.
Dalglish told reporters at Melwood: "We are looking alright I think. We only trained on Tuesday, but there's nothing there that will cause us a problem for Sunday."
He continued: "Steven is progressing and training really well. Everybody is delighted with his progress, so that is positive as well.
"We'll wait and see (if he's available). We won't set any targets for Sunday that we won't reach. When he's ready he'll be ready. It's fantastic for him that he's progressing as well as he is and great for us as well."
Dalglish was also quizzed about the FA case relating to Luis Suarez.
He said: "We can't do or say anything that will be prejudicial in any way, shape or form.
"With regards to Luis, we'll say what we have said before. We'll stand right beside him and help him as much as we possibly can. After it's finished there will be a chance for a conversation."

I got one there myself, it's the only carling cup credit I have, it might be enough to get a final ticket or at least a chance of one.

I'm going to 5 games already in the second half of the season. Was tempted for a cup game, but decided against both of them in the end. Stoke on 14th Jan my next game.

The reserves are away at Man United tonight K.O. 7pm. For those that may be interested in a bet. We have tended to put out really strong reserve sides lately so we may be worth a punt later depending on the team sheet.

Kenny Dalglish today confirmed Liverpool 'have the option' to add to their squad in January - but insisted they don't necessarily need to bolster the ranks.

With the transfer window set to re-open in 16 days' time, journalists at Melwood were eager to quiz the boss on any potential plans to bring in new faces to the Reds squad.
"We don't speculate on anybody - either our own players or somebody else's players," Dalglish told his pre-Aston Villa press conference.
"It doesn't matter what we say, there is going to be speculation in the newspapers - but we won't be here to answer every question that's in newspapers.
"We'll do our business the way we've been brought up to do our business, and that's privately behind closed doors.
"We have the option to add if we want to, but we also have another option that we don't have to."

Really? In the World Club Championship?

Could be good news for Ireland!

Villa with broken leg would probably do a better job than Carroll :D

The alternatives are the likes of Torres and Llorente..then the likes of Pedro who is a starter for Barca but has only 15 caps for Spain. Coupled with the likes of Moreno and Bojan in the underage squads as backup, I dont think Villa missing will make a difference to Ireland's chances.
