Film crew on campus, filming in front of the old Civil Engineering building now. Think I might have been the reason for a retake so didn't hang around to ask!

They were filming near the library yesterday.

They were out in front of the College Bar there about an hour or so ago, word is it's the Guard 2. Few well known Irish actors about, one of whom I can't think of where he's from and it's a pain, but there was a chap in a fake Garda uniform (noticed it's fake because of the badges).

According to someone over in the TV forum, there's a cast member from Game of Thrones involved in the filming.

Taken from the Game of Thrones thread:

He's shooting Jack Taylor in Galway at the moment; coming to an end soon though.

Have no idea what that film is about, but i think this is the IMDB page for it.

You could see that floodlight from the international space station. Someone is bound to get an epliptic fit going past.

Was talking to one of the crewmen. It's the TV3 garda tv show, Jack Taylor, filming season 2:

Yeah, I assumed as much. It's a load of crap and just makes Galway look ridiculous. The first film opened with the line, "They say that Galway is the graveyard of ambition..."

    ...what?

I assume it's in reference to the fact that it's a nice place and many people are therefore content to settle here without any real prospects...

I Remember this was used by london's Financial Times paper in a review they did on Galway, advising companies in a light hearted fashion that exec's sent there may decide to stay rather than take promotion elsewhere. The artical was most complementary as I recall.
