We have supposedly signed 16yr old Jordan Ibe from Wycombe for a fee of 500k, he will stay with them and join the club in the summer.

I live in Wycombe and can safely say he's incredibly well regarded by folk down here. Really good potential.

Disappointing? It was terrible. There is a real gap developing now. We really need to put a string of wins together for the first time this season.

Chelsea will probably kick on now and take top 4.

Spurs and Arsenal are probably the realistic targets and we are 3rd favs there.

I think this is the most likely top 6 based on performances so far.

    Man City
    Man Utd
    Spurs
    Chelsea
    Arsenal
    Liverpool

I think the gunners are more vulnerable than we are and Chelsea will take Spurs over time.

Of course, the Jan transfer window will probably chance all that.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Well city are playing arsenal next week and Chelsea are playing spurs soon, so someone is going drop points, a few wins on the bounce and we ll be right up there.

You could be right about Chelsea/Spurs but definitely dont agree regarding Arsenal.

As injuries and squad impact goes if VPersie gets injured they are worse off than us without Lucas .

We are ****ed without Suarez. And I also think the hole left by Lucas will become extremely apparent in the bigger games. Also, not having a goal scoring CF is a major problem.

Anything can happen, it's very early days. Spurs lose two and we win two and we are above them.

Arsenal are heavily reliant on RVP. If he goes off form or gets injured they might struggle.

Chelsea weren't our target before the season started, it was Arsenal/Spurs. Will probably end up like that.

    Long way to go.

    ...
Steven Gerrard is hoping to make his Liverpool comeback in time for the New Year.

The Reds captain returned to light training last week after spending five weeks on the treatment table following an ankle infection sustained at the end of October.

Gerrard had targeted this Sunday's visit to Aston Villa as his original return date, affirmed by the club's initial announcement that their talismanic skipper would be missing for a fortnight.

The 31-year-old was ruled out of action for six months after undergoing two rounds of groin surgery following his participation in last season's win over Manchester United in March.

It resulted in Gerrard making his lowest number of appearances for the club in all competitions since forcing his first-team breakthrough during the 1998-99 campaign

An infection at the end of July prolonged his rehabilitation by a further two months, putting paid to plans for a comeback in a pre-season friendly against Valencia in the process.

Since his return in the Carling Cup win over Brighton in September, Gerrard made substitute appearances against Wolves and Everton before netting in his first start, again against United.

Another 90-minute outing followed seven days later against Norwich before he was sidelined with this latest infection, which required immediate surgery and a protective cast.

But he is now expected to feature in Liverpool's final fixture of 2011 against Newcastle United on December 30, which will end his injury-plagued year on something of a positive.

The timing of Gerrard's return will help aid Kenny Dalglish's selection headache in filling the void left by Lucas Leiva's season-ending injury, picked up against Chelsea last month.

Jordan Henderson partnered Charlie Adam for Saturday's win over Queens Park Rangers but is likely to be restored to the right-wing as Liverpool face a gruelling January schedule.

Three meetings with Manchester City, in the Premier League and Carling Cup semi-final respectively, await the Anfield outfit as do away trips to Bolton and Wolves.

Liverpool, meanwhile, have also been given additional time to respond to the Football Association's charges relating to last Monday's defeat at Fulham.

Luis Suarez, who scored against QPR on Saturday, was charged with improper conduct after he displayed an offensive hand gesture towards the Craven Cottage fans following the game.

Dalglish was also charged with failing to control his players after referee Kevin Friend claimed he felt intimidated following Jay Spearing's instant dismissal in his report of the 1-0 reversal.

5 points isn't a gap. City were 5 points ahead yesterday, now look.

We certainly need to improve but it's not too late. If we start converting f**king chances we will win loads of game on the bounce.

    F**king Andy Carroll...

You might want to go through the squad and how many goals each player has scored - the spread is a fúcking joke - highlighting Andy is a bit rich, we do not play to his strenghts - that's well known. There are many others not putting the ball in the net.

He also hasn't been on the pitch in the last couple of games? Or in many games for us generally.

Our next big game is 3rd Jan, play Man City away, But We get to play teams below us up to then,
But we need to beat these teams to give us a chance , No excuses not to beat Wigan, Blackburn and Newcastle at Anfield,
    And hopefully Villa on Sunday,

We are running out of excuses, Finishing is poor, Loads of chances ,but half ones ,
We never really cut teams apart and walk it into net ,

I think we would have atleast 6 more pts on table if Meiriles was still our player,
We miss those goals from midfield !!!!

And generally tbh, when he has he's done well recently.

Important goals against Everton & West Brom back to back for instance.

How many goals did he get last season?

    How many before Jan?

How many has Adam & Henderson gotten this season so far?

No. He was bought as our goal scorer. 20 goal a season man or what have ya. I'm not blaming him. Just the whole situation really. The player we bought should be banging them in by now. He hasn't played because he isn't playing well and doesn't fit the system. Bad choice. Wrong choice. Waste of money.

He got 5 goals and 5 assists last season (his most productive season ever).

Adam already has 2 goals & 4 assists this season & his general play has been much better.

We're not really missing Meireles at all tbh. Adam has been excellent for us, better than Meireles in the midfield role.

We're missing Carroll chipping in with a few more regularly, Suarez being a touch more clinical & a couple of goals from wide men, IMO.

Agree with you here. Would like to still have Meireles for cover but we're alright without him.

However, the last sentence could be understatement of the year.

    "a few"

    "a touch"

    "a couple"

    :)

Well I'm not expecting us to hockey the opposition in every game, generally we're playing well & tbh we're only a 'touch' away from where we wanna be, so yea, I think those small things would push us that step further we want/need.

Back to back? Are you forgetting the games against Stoke and Norwich in-between? (there was also the game against United but he didnt feature)

We badly need a clinical goal scoring centre forward.

Andy Carroll was bought to be our clinical scoring centre forward.

    He is not doing it.

I'm not saying he that is the only reason for our failings, but he is probably the main one to be honest. If he was banging them in it would solve the majority of our problems.
