Careful now, I suggested him a month or so ago and had a reply or two along the lines of him being one of my bundesliga no hopers (funny given that he does not play in that league). :D

Of course he shouldn't be dealt with any harsher then others, but this incident aside, the harsh treatment he has received has been at the hands of the media as oppose to the FA.

Obviously we all want to see consistency, but that argument for consistency should be made around Suarez not getting charged, as oppose to Rooney, Cole, Utd etc all getting charged too, because charging them would also be ridiculous.

Its like complaining about Suarez's offside goal the other night, and demanding that all other onside goals be also ruled out so as to achieve consistency

Hmm, ok interesting comparison, not sure it fits but ok we'll go with it. I just believe that if it was a case of video evidence being used to judge the offside goal being on or off and it's a case off if other similar goals were given onside thne suarez' goal should be given onside. Equal treatment once there has been time to sit back and take stock of the situation.

Ipso facto, suarez can't be charged and banned for this when the FA have let off other players in the past. Unless the FA come out and make a statement to the effect of any player now being found guilty of giving the finger to fans will be punished with whatever punishment suarez might get, and follow through, unless they do this, it is victimisation. Why is Luis being charged when other before him have not been for the same offence?

When Beckham was still at Utd he escaped sanction from the FA for giving 2 fingers to the Leeds fans.

The FA's reasoning? He had been provoked by abuse from the crowd.

Now, let's watch the foreigner get hung out to dry.

It's funny listening to pundits & the media in general go on about the disgrace that is 'racism' in the game, when in reality it is now only a tiny tiny issue. A much bigger issue & one which the media is more culpable than anyone, is xenophobia. English football is rife with it.

I disagree. The argument shouldn't be for a or against Luis getting charged or not, it should be for equal treatment in the game. Suarez has been very contreversial since he has arrived, sure, but he shouldnt be judged harsher because of thisimo. The same fate that befell others in the english game who have done the same should be the fate of Suarez now. It is not. He is being victimised. It is my strong feeling that if he were english....well i'm sure everyone here knows the end of that sentence!

I often stick my head in here to pick up some team news, and I can never quite tell if this is a Liverpool thread or a "let's compare ourselves to United and moan about them getting away with things" thread.

Every fan of every team feels victimised, and bigger clubs often get the blame... but my goodness, the amount of United posts in here is crazy.

Rooney is a twit most of the time, yes... and probably a horrible human being, but whether he's swore at a ref or beat up your granny, or whether or not the entire United team are conspiring terrorists, Suarez's many investigations will not be effected, and clubs will continue to be warned against surrounding referees whenever it suits the FA.

It's an FA thing. A FIFA thing. A football thing. What happens in one red jersey doesn't effect what happens in another.

United don't get discussed a great deal in here by Liverpool fans, so I don't know what you are on about.

Touch of the Beglins about you.

Xenophobia is a serious issue and has been for years now in the Premiership. The "dirty" foreigner as opposed to the committed brave UK player is always played upon by the press and is a horrible streak that runs through the game.

A perfect example is the respect campaign that ended all of five minutes after Macherano sending off against United a few years back. He was an easy target and the xenophobia reached a fever pitch in the days afterwards. For me it's as bad as racism but because it's an inbuilt part of the media gets little or no attention.

If Suarez were English, he wouldn't need to go down easily. He'd get the decision nine times out of ten.

Gerrard and Clattenberg at Goodison, Rooney smashing James McCarthy across the head off the ball (Clattenberg again) and Graham Poll's comments about how a referee has to remember he's sending off an England captain when John Terry was shown red all spring to mind.

    Richard Buxton.....
Liverpool FC targeting third Uruguayan signing in January
Liverpool are considering a January move for Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin.

The 25-year-old was the subject of interest from Anfield in the summer prior to the arrival of fellow centre-back and international team mate Sebastian Coates, who arrived from

Along with Coates and Reds hit man Luis Suarez, Godin was one of Uruguay's outstanding candidates during their triumphant run to the Copa America.

He has been tracked by Liverpool in recent weeks and agent Diego Heredia Triguero claims that Premier League rivals Arsenal and Chelsea have also been in contact regarding a possible move.

Chelsea are thought to be making a move for the former Villarreal man as a replacement for the outgoing Alex, who had a transfer request was accepted before last weekend's win at Newcastle.

"As I said, Godin is talked about a lot in England, there are clubs like Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal who are also quite careful about certain players," Triguero told calciomercato.com.

"I've spoken a little to all of them. But real negotiations have not yet been launched."

Gerrard being English has gotten away with a lot in the past, you can't have it both ways

I wouldn't worry too much about Suarez, think it will just be the usual warning to future conduct. What you guys make of this? Adam reminds me of Keano during our let's kill the ref moment.

I don't agree with it, or the whole respect campaign, when refs make stupid decisions like the red card players have every right to be pissed off. But if there is a history of punishments given out for similar incidents then I will accept it.
