Under Rafael Benitez Cole played often played in wide positions, which was a waste of his talent in unlocking defences

Ahh Beglin. Anything to get a dig at Rafa, even though Rafa was gone from the club before Cole signed.

Cole playing wide right under Benitez? I think Mr.Beglin should have had someone to proof read that before publishing it.

I was having a think about the team against QPR:

    reina
    kelly
    skrtel
    agger
    enrique

    kuyt
    johnson
    adam
    bellamy
    hendo

    suarez

Johnson in the Lucas DM role, freeing up Henderson to play further forward where he is more of a threat. Sounds good to me anyway.

Also ignores the part where he was played behind the striker while at LFC and is now effective again since he's being used out wide by Lille. Agenda-driven journalism at its best.

    Unbelievable agenda from Beglin.

Also ignores the wide position that Cole played in a lot for Chelsea, but claims that playing in the same position was a reason why he flopped at Liverpool.

"intheknow99: Alex will probably be shipped out to Juventus on the cheap, who also want Montolivo. Krasic and/or Elia will be sold to finance this."
    --

Has Krasic disimproved drastically at Juve or would he be worth snapping up if they're letting him go? Just as a stop-gap while we're waiting to sign Hazard, obviously.... ;)

The problem with people talking about not needing a holding midfielder is that Lucas had evolved into more as a player. He provided the defensive cover and work of some like Mascherano without the ball but also with the ball he had become the major link from defensive to the rest of the team. He always provided passing options for someone on the ball and was really clever in knowing when to keep it simple or try a long pass. In a different way to Alonso he had become the metronome for the team who most everything went through. He was turning into the complete player for the position he plays imo. Fair enough in some games we might not need a holding midfielder but Lucas had become much much more than that which is going to be hard to replace.

It's QPR though...surely a central midfield partnership of Henderson & Adam could manage against a newly promoted side?! Or are we THAT dependent on a defensive midfielder now that we can't do without one (i.e. does our central defence always need shielding)? I know we've struggled against the other 2 newly promoted teams this season but I think if we're a bit more adventurous against them, that the extra source of creativity can help break them down. Sure, we might let a goal in, but we'll have a better chance of scoring 3 or 4 if we have 6 attack-minded players on the pitch.

Krasic would be a disaster, he's not good enough for Juve and he's not good enough for us, no matter how much his agent tries to talk him up.

Krasic would be a good signing for Liverpool. He's a bit of a Nani like winger(although not as good) in so far he is that is capable of a bit of magic and offers that bit of unpredictability that Liverpool lack in the wide areas IMO.

I think its a level of predictablility we need, rather than a maverick who'll have a stormer every one game in five. He is worse than Nani, and that alone is a concern. He ain't playing a Juve, not because of injury, he was being booed by a lot of the home support, but because of poor workrate and general shiitness. The likes of Vucinic and Pepe have kept him out of the side as regards providing attacking support for Matri, and they are very ordinary players. Personally i don't think he's remotely better than what we have at the moment.

Edit: have we been linked Krasic by any reputable source does anyone know?

    was just about to say...

do we really need to have more than our back 4...

like...adam...can get back...unfortunately...and give away frees so stay forward
hendo can get a body back fast...if for nothing else but to hold a player up for a few minutes...

but those two attacking should certainly get us some goals...

getting goals...the dirty phrase of the present

i say give it socks again QPR and hope for the best

    from LFC site
Liverpool FC today received notification from the Football Association of their decision to charge both the Club and Luis Suarez following the game against Fulham.

The Club will take the appropriate time to properly review the documentation sent to us before making any further comment
    .

    danroan Dan Roan
Luis Suarez charged by FA over finger gesture after Fulham game.

Fair enough was to be expected because he was stupid.
    danroan Dan Roan
Liverpool also charged with failing to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion, following the dismissal of Spearing.

Utter Shite. If LFC are charged for failure to control, what of MUFC behaviour v NUFC?

So Clint Dempsey gets away with what he done to Bellamy?

    GTFO.

    F*cking joke

    What, touching heads?

I fully agree that charging Suarez for this is a joke, but it should be a case of arguing for him not to be charged, as oppose to arguing for others guilty of similarly ridiculous incidents to be charged also

Hardly fair considering there is no precedent for charging players over this.
May 2011: Manchester United and England player Wayne Rooney is photographed and videotaped making a clear V-sign toward Chelsea fans. FA decides not to take action.

17 December 2007: Chelsea and England player Ashley Cole is photographed making a clear V-sign toward Arsenal fans. There is no immediately available record of the FA taking any action.

19 January 2010: Manchester United and England player Gary Neville is photographed clearly extending a middle finger toward Manchester City’s Carlos Tevez in full view of fans, at the end of a heated local derby. There is no immediately available record of the FA taking any action

Liverpool should compile a nice dossier of all previous transgressions of this kind that have been ignored, should they wish to charge us, then I'd expect they'll charge all others too. Oh I forgot, like the respect campaign the rules only apply to Liverpool.

Dalglish needs to call Rafa. Someone needs to tell the FA the facts.

It was more than just touching heads.

He was goading Bellamy into a reaction.

Bellamy doesn't react and just laughs, but still gets booked for it.

Bunch of sound blokes them FA suits.

Bellamy shouldn't have been booked obviously, but Dempsey hardly warranted a red. He goaded Bellamy, that's about it. My point is why not just charge players who warrant charging, instead of ridiculously charging the likes of Suarez and Dempsey for nothing incidents?

As I said, a common sense approach should be the aim, as oppose to a situation where every time someone curses or makes a gesture they're out for a few games

Going back to Bellamy, I'd be happier to get beaten and him have reacted as he did then to get a point and him to have gone down ala Skrtel to get Dempsey sent off

Between the money/billionaires ruining the game .
The absolute shambles that the English FA are .
And the low standard of Refs and officials .

I'm really getting disillusioned with the EPL ?

Fully agree. As Liam Gallagher put it last year on Football Focus about the Rooney ban
I suppose there's a lot of kids out there called Sebastian who will find it horrific that he's swearing down the camera. But it happens, young man

Anyone who's offended by this sort of thing should either grow a set of balls or just start following polo or something
