It's as reasonable as the nonsense Rooney claimed.

(Do you have a link for that btw, it was my understanding the FA did nothing about it, ie. Rooney didn't have to make up a stupid excuse as they brought no action against him)

In that case Suarez needs to just say he was pointing out the lovely moon to the Fulham fans in case they missed it.

    Case closed.

Its quiet possible they hadn't noticed it with Carra' not playing

Hardly, Suarez was clearly pointing to this teeth, which the Fulham fans were suggesting needed a bit of work, which they were offering help with. He was just making sure they meant his teeth rather than his nose. Clear cut.

Cool. I'm sure Suarez will explain that one to the FA and they'll believe him.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1385063/Wayne-Rooney-hot-water-appearing-swear-Chelsea-fans.html

A Manchester United spokesman denied that Rooney had sworn at fans, however, suggesting he was actually pointing to his eyes because of what he thought was a bad decision.

The bit about it being over the Ivanovic foul, I saw in The Sun, so I won't post that link here. It doesn't take much to find it in a google anyway.

I don't know if Rooney was telling the truth or not, but at the very least it does sound like a pretty reasonable defense.

Suarez scored a really well taken goal last night so that statistic about not scoring in 7 doesn't really show the full picture. It wasn't an easy chance, I thought he took it superbly, can hardly blame him for it being ruled out

Carroll scored a goal and had an assist ruled out earlier in the season for not that much. Linesmen and ref calls will go against players, part of the game I'm afraid.

Not scoring in 7 is the fact, the rest is excuses.

People here expected 15-20 goals this season each and it doesn't look like either will get it.

An actual Carroll back to Newcastle rumour has been doing the rounds for two months now. One or two local journos in Liverpool have mentioned it along with the rumoured price. Put it up in here some time ago, and again when the discussion was about Carroll not settling.

Same journo that is backing this rumour is the one that said that Gerrard had no chance of making it back in three games time waaay back when the club made that announcement about him being back after the first international break. And the same guy said that the statement by the club on the 2nd or 3rd of Novemeber that claimed that Gerrard was doing well and would be back sooner rather than later was rubbish.

The fact that the club has again come out at the start of this month and said that he will yet again be back sooner rather than later pretty much backs up what was said, and I passed on that rumour back in the old super thread, so I am tending to give the journo the benefit of the doubt over Carroll.

Be a very crappy way for Gerrard's career to wind down if it is just injury time after injury time until the end. Personally I hope that he can get a sustained run of fitness towards the end of his career, but I have a feeling that won't happen and that his time as a regular has already passed thanks to his injuries of this and last season in particular.

    What was the rumoured price?
If the club are talking nonsense about Gerrard, why?

If all PL woodwork strikes this season had been goals, Liverpool would be just 4 points behind Man City

Hmm thats one of those stats, I presume if other teams woodwork shots went in something similar would happen, esp Newcastle.

It says all.... not all Liverpool's, all premier league.
Aside from some disappointments, mostly Downing, we are running bad. It's not something most people are capable of processing.

Not to rain on your parade The-Rigger but woodwork hits ain't on target. A foot off they may be but it's a shot off-target all the same.

I do understand what you mean though, they are unlucky, afaik we [Arsenal] would have won the league last year had all our woodwork shots been inside the posts.

Not the same thing tho is it? If arsenal had of scored all their chances that hit the post is not the same as if everyone's chances that hit the post went in. It show that if we can get more clinical while keeping every other aspect of our game the exact same that we would be in second or if we could do it form now at least we would move up in the table.

Spurs are looking ominous. Way too early to start predicting things tho like this or that team is definitely gonna make top 4 or not, well except of course the manchester teams I guess but you know what I mean.

I heard recently that Stephen Fletcher has a better goals-to-minutes ratio than Javier Hernandez this season.

    I hope FSG weren't listening.

Just to add to this too, if the ball was another foot inside the post alot of them would also be saved by the keeper so stats like that are absolutely ridiculous to go by.

so...how we gonne start now without spearo?

    what bout

    reina
    johnsons----skrtle
    agger
    enrique
    adam--hendo
    downing
    shelvey
    bellamy
    suarez

or would you bring in kuyt and try bellamy in the centre maybe? or slip maxi into the centre?

seems like a shout to give shelvey a go...like its a win win....he gets the chance to play due to squad shortages...much like flanno and robinson last year.

so if it doesnt work...he's too young..if it does work and he keeps up his bpool form...we've got a nice little player on our hands.

do we get the chance to appeal that red as it was a straight red?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,655 ✭✭✭El Inho

    we can appeal....

i think two straight reds have been rescinded this year...i could be wrong?

the video footage shows it was a pretty good tackle...

cant help but feel pictures like this don't help his case....

    article-0-0F110FDC00000578-514_468x305.jpg

like that does look a nasty nasty tackle...so i dunno

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,548 ✭✭✭VW 1

Surely a video would be used and not a picture so how nasty the tackle does or doesnt look is irrelevant.

On first watching I thought it was a great tackle, on the slower replay I thought ok maybe its a yellow because the follow through was high. Never ever was it a red card though.

Should definitely be appealed and imo, overturned.

3-0 down now. I don't understand why we didn't drop down players like Suso, Wisdom etc like we have done in other years for this competition.
Agreed. I would like to see Andy Carroll get a chance too.

Both Shelvey goals supposedly came from two cracking freekicks.
    First Ngog, now Ngoo???
Shelvey is such a good player. I hope he at least gets a place on the bench this weekend.

Or, just support both players like a proper fan.

Should we have supported Paul Konchesky too? Would that make us proper fans like you? Carroll is completely out of place at Liverpool, he reminds me of the pony-tailed pimp character that Harvey Keitel plays in Taxi Driver.

I see Gary Cahill's won his appeal against his red card at the weekend, if we have appealed we should have word by Friday I suppose.

The argument has been made that it wasn't even a tackle, more of a 50/50 as Dembele didn't have the ball and Spearing wasn't going in the player's direction. That said, I think it depends on the official line in the match report. While his winning the ball is evidence that he wasn't just going out to hurt Dembele, things like excessive force and recklessness are in the eye of the beholder, so it's pretty much at the referee's discretion whether he's guilty or not.
he reminds me of the pony-tailed pimp character that Harvey Keitel plays in Taxi Driver.

He looks more like an early-70s Dave Gilmour:

Proper fans like me? What you talking about? The XI players that are out on the pitch should be supported. I'd have thought that was standard

Are you one of the "fans" thats boos Pool players at Anfield? If you know where it is of course ;).

I'd had my doubts if any appeal for Spearings red will be successful. He still caught him, albiet with his trailing leg and with no intent imo.

Feet of the floor in a tackle is always risky territory.

I'd nearly put Kuyt in the Lucas position! We are sooo thin, anyone know if Aurelio is still alive? he can play CM.
