Yeah I saw it. I'm less than 20 feet away to the left of that alley. I pass it every single day. The alley itself is very short but it opens up at the back into a motorbike garage and is pretty big.

I, and loads of other groups, must have walked past that lane 16 times at least since Saturday. Officially there hasn't been anything about the phone but the amount of lies I've heard about it around college has been atrocious. Thankfully the greater majority of people on this thread have been compassionate and truthful.

Im just speculating now, but as u say ye've passed it over 16 times, and according to the Independent.ie report it says "The Garda team made the discovery of the body in a yard of a business premises near Douglas Street just south of the city centre this morning", i wonder what made the Garda team go back and search that spot themselves.

Of course there's no good time to hear such news (if confirmed) but its especially worse around this time of they year.

When I say I've passed it I'm just referring to it being on the search route. Very very sad alright. Fair play to everyone who have given up so much time to help the search. My heart goes out to those who searched and searched without much sleep or food but were the first to start and last to leave.

Really really sorry to hear that a body has been found. I don't know which is worse, not knowing or finding a body. At least he is out of the cold now. May God give some kind of comfort to his family and friends.

"Please Note :Caolans family and the Gaurds are asking people not to discuss the situation over Facebook, any status you see up about him on your friends list, could you please forward this message to them to kindly ask them to remove it and respect the familys wishes as they come to terms. even if you mean well it would be really appreciated"

Edit, I know it's referring to Facebook but I assume it's anywhere public that they might come across.

While the identity of the body is as of yet unconfirmed, considering the request of the family and Gardai, would now not be an appropriate time for the mods to lock this thread and prevent any potentially offensive or insensitive speculation on the matter?

Yea, I saw that. Family dont need to be seeing more than they have to. The gossip mill needs to stop flowing at this stage. At least in a sense, the family have peace and I wish them the very best going forward and I hope that they are doing ok. They need support and privacy now more than anything. I hope people will respect that.

I think its appropriate at this stage to lock this thread - I do feel that if anyone wishes to start a condolences thread, they can, but the situation is not to be discussed, anyone who does so will be dealt with severly

Edit - I've set up the thread http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2056474771
