I have a spare optical drive kicking around now since I replaced it with another HD, and I was wondering If there is a cable (on the cheap) for hooking this up through firewire (or at a last resort USB, but my ports are generally full)

If not, what is the best and cheapest optical drive enclosures rather than just a cable?

I'd say it isn't worth it. you would be as cheap to buy a firewire burner.

Well I know that you can get really cheap HD cases, so why not optical?

I've had thousands of people ask for this and I'm sick of telling them there's no demand!

But, seriously, you are the only one. The demand for such a converter is so tiny that no manufacturer will consider developing one.

This might be what you're looking for. It's USB but it doees the job.

As the the website says - "These enclosures are not compatible with the Mid 2010 and newer model superdrives"
