I'm in a pickle, I want to restart Platinum but most of my top shelf 'Mon are in that game.
So, is there any way of switching between games with only one DS?

    Please say yes!

No - the cart can only hold one game.
    No! Don't cry!
    the answer is

    Yes!
But you need a way of getting the save off the cart so you can create a new save. The device to do this costs about the same as the cart does

I used an NDS Backup plus 'cause it can read HG/SS and B/W as well.

You copy the save off the cart using a PC, then delete the save on the game (you have to hold down buttons on the title screen, forget which ones. It's scary to do even when you know your mon are safe!) then use the PC to juggle between various game save states. Back your save up periodically and protect against carts going through the wash!

The price of a game?! :O
Bloody hell, at that stage I'd just consider getting an old DS.

Aye, times like that I'm glad my brother likes the Professor Layton games, so there's a spare DS if I need to do trading.

Depends on what you time is worth to you.
In the time it takes you to move 6 Pokemon using standard trading, you could backup a cart, copy all the boxes, open another save file, import all the boxes and write that save to a cart, so for example you could move 540 Gen 4s over to Gen 5 without having to play the cat-n-mouse crossbow game

That's what I did. DSi XL for home comfort, DS Lite for knocking about the place. And trading with myself. Cos I'm totes hardcore.

Don't get me wrong, I've walked the 2 ds's line but trading with yourself is like half a **** ( and not the good half) .

if you happen to live near celbridge BTW you can borrow mine (backup adapter that is)

If you do that the Met Information from the Gen 4s becomes garbage, run the files via Pokeshifter program before loading the Gen 4 files in BW and it's all good again :)

I dunno how many of you have action-replay'd/gamesharked your copies of Crystal, but I encountered an oddity. If you load up a random, wild encounter with any one of the legendary birds, they flee, similar to the native legendary dogs. I'm curious as to why exactly. I chalk it up to a random bit of code, but it's interesting to see how self-referential the game is, even on that basic, mechanical level.

I reckon the answer will be no, but worth a shot:

I started playing Crystal again today and realised I'm only 19 (plus Celebi) short of a full pokedex. As such I went through the list and realised there are only three (plus their evolutions) that I can't get in the game. Figured I could get them from gold or silver, but both of those batteries appear to have died as neither are holding a save.

My question now, without a cheat device, is their anything for Crystal like the glitch from RBY that allows you to face any wild Pokemon based on a value that I can't remember at this time? It was the second method for getting Mew iirc. All three that I need are from Gen II so despite RBY still working, they are useless as I'm only missing Staryu and Mankey from Gen I. Have a Mankey egg and I can get Staryu by fishing.

I've never finished a Gen II game pokedex, think this is the closest I've ever gotten.

Have any of the legendaries been released for download from black/white yet?

Is there a full world map that includes all the regions? Just curious as to what it looks like. I know Kanto and Johto are beside each other, but that's it.
