I installed Panda internet security on my laptop.
I restarted my laptop after install.
It started fine until my desktop image showed.
    It then froze.
I couldn't move the mouse or anything.
I powered off and started it up again.
It worked until I opened Panda Internet security and tried to install updates.
    It froze again.
I tried uninstall and reinstalling it.
    I tried disabling windows firewall.
    I removed all AVG programmes.
I changed the compatibility tab so that Windows XP wasn't ticked.
This allowed me to install updates but when I rebooted again, it froze again.

Any suggestions what else I could do?

did you use avg removal tool or just windows removal , you might have bits of avg left over causing a conflict and did you get panda from a reliable source ? and have you ever run any maintance progs , freezing suggests its straining a bit and might just need a bit of a clean out , registry , temp folders etc , system mechanic is great and you can get the full prog for free for 30 days trial
