Ive only a man corner :(

And its getting over crowded. Not going change either as the priorities in the house are - the cats, the girlfriend, the furniture and then me.

What other colour choices are there?

For the sign they do it in Blue, Green, White or Pinky Red.

Or you can stick your own light in it. Its very easy to swap out and I might have a go at sticking real red leds in there at some stage and lose the power cable and try it on batteries.

I might take the colour rotating leds out of a light stick I made with parts from a few garden lights a while back and see if they will work in it.
They are bright enough and run for about a month on rechargeable AA bats after I change the power circuit inside them.

And you don't want to tack it up?

I think the blue looks very well, shame the green is a clash though given the connection between green & all things Hyrulian :D

Yeah, the room is tacked to the max at the moment so any more would drive it over the edge me thinks :D

They sell the sign in red as the logo matches up with it i reckon.

    270760.jpg

I actually think green would not look that well to be honest.
I've got colour selectable leds in my Level 10 GT PC case and the red looks cool, the blue looks cool but the green just looks wrong.

Here's a quick and dirty vid of that light stick thingy.

It started out as part of a Halloween costume for someone who couldn't find what they were looking for. So they asked me to make it.

And it somehow ended up in my man cave.

Found a chap in the UK selling boxes for CPS 2 boards (something similar to those MVS ones). They come with a side sticker and one for the front too.

Decided to get one to see what it's like. Will post results as soon as it arrives!

I saw those recently but haven't gone for any yet as I've to find a copy of Mars Matrix and Progear for a decent price.

Let us know how they turn out when you get them. Curious myself if these are any use. :)

I could really do a good few of these to tidy things up.

I'm thinking of sticking custom QR code stickers on all my boxes from now on so I know whats in them and dates and other info that might be handy to know in a few weeks/months/years/decades.

I assume in decades the little control chip embedded in our heads will automagically decode QR codes for us, so that'll be handy.

    F*ck it!
I finally decided to stop being a bitch and pre-ordered the 1541 Ultimate II cart for the c64.

Added the tape adapter also, and even went for express post.

    It all came to €170.

This is what the kit looks like: (uSD card optional)

    5355307164_644955a56c_b.jpg

    The kit in use:

    IMG_8850.jpg

At the side of the Cart there's a Micro SD Card slot, and a USB-A socket for connecting USB sticks/drives etc... (They plan to add network support by means of Ethernet over USB in the future)

The Black DIN cable connects from the buldge of the catridge to the Commodore's Serial Port to provide emulation of the 1541 floppy disk drive.

A ribbon cable connects from the cart to the blue Tape adaptor.
This can be used for playing .TAP / .T64 (cassette) files for those awesome loaders with music e.g Ocean Loaders, last ninja 2, etc..
Or purely for that retro loading experience. :D

You can also piggyback a real C64 Tape deck onto the back of the connector, and transfer the data from a tape to the SD Card in the Cartridge.
(won't be using this feature myself, this Cart will be the only media I'll be using or own)

It's basically a full FPGA emulation of the original 1541 Disk Drive,
(which is a tricky bugger to emulate, as it has its own processor inside).

So it has Full compatibility for .D64 and PRG files,
and especially those "Fast Loader" games which made use of the 1541 processor - There's loads.

This is why the price is so high, but considering the cost of FPGA chips, and the fact it's the best emulation to date, it's worth it imo.

They're even working on support for CRT (cartridge files) atm,
which may make an appearance in a future firmware update.

It's the most user friendly solution I've seen, can't wait to get my hands on it.

In the past I bought a c64 to parallel cable for use with C64HDD,
but that thing was a disaster to setup.

You needed a pure DOS environment on an ancient PC,
just have a look at Luas_Dublin's post to see how much of a PITA that solution was:

    Some vids....

Promo Vid of the older 1541U:

1541 Ultimate II - In Use

    Le Skip to:
    File Browser

    Running a Game

    Built in SID Player

As you can see the loading times are fairly instant, something that's simply amazing on a c64!

Old Production Run in the Factory

Another cool feature of the Cart, is that it provies the C64 with a whopping 16MB Ram expansion!

This makes it capable of playing back 16 colour Video at a resolution of 320x200 with 25 FPS!!

Check out the Dallas Intro running on a c64:

    :D:D:D

Takes about 40 seconds to load these videos 1 minute videos,
which is about the same time it takes to load a game on the Megadrive using Everdrive MD.

It also has a full SID Chip emulation, which adds a 2nd SID chip to your commodore, for Stereo SID compatibility.

Nice!! This is becoming a bit of an AGS 101 collectors corner. Going to have to get myself one least I get left behind :pac:

For anyone interested in those CPS2 boxes, the final price came to £3.50 for the box and the labels (he does different regions too) and £4.00 for postage from the UK.

Shame about the postage price, but I guess they are big things. Not like I have 30 of them to be buying anyway :D

If the guys ever release the Java converter for c64 videos,

I think I'll have to make one for Glenroe or the Late Late Show for the craic! :)

Search for Nuvie Player c64 on youtube for all the vids, here's 2 more:

    An nvidia demo: :p

    Trackmania Nations

Had a look at more vids and am glad to see instant loads. :)

It must have been games like Street Fighter 2 and Duke3D that took 40 seconds like in this vid.
Doubt there's many games that big in size though!

Going to buy a Mega Drive controller for the c64 (despite the risk, no confirmed reports of damage yet, might add the diode to be safe)
so for a few euro more I'll be tempted to just buy the console too!

And maybe slap on an everdrive in the future!

I think he means flashing the game from the SD card to the ROM? They load instantly once the game is on there, but every time you want to put a new game on it takes a few moments.

Do you have a GBA flash cart by any chance? It's something similar to that. You have to flash it with a new game ever time.

It's a little annoying...however it sure beats those olden, pre SD card flash cart days where you had to manually flash new games every time from a PC!

Speaking of which, I bought a Gameboy 64Mb flash cart over the weekend. Unfortunately it is one of these olden days type ones without a micro SD slot. There is currently no other solution. :(

So I'll have to make do with my 8MB of storage! Thank feck the games are tiny.

Yep that's what I meant, doesn't seem to take long for most games.

So if you flash a game, and cycle the power, the same game will remain in the eeprom, and you won't have to flash that game again after powering up?

    That's pretty sweet!

Just got Metal Slug advance and Bomberman Tournament for GBA.

Under a tenner for the both of them and they are boxed.

First time that I have played Metal Slug in years and I'm crap at it now. My reflexes are shot to hell.

Bomberman is like a face down game like zelda. Haven't played it for long, just really played the battle. I like bombs, they are problem solvers and are for all ages.
Games nowadays are so recklessly violent and not fun living like Super bomberman.

In the options menu of Metal Slug advance there's an option to turn auto fire on, makes the game sooo much easier to play.
I completed the game before even noticing this option felt a right tit.:P

But those carts can only store one save. I had a couple of days progress on Zelda Links Awakening wiped out by playing mario land for a minute. I don't think super Mario land even saves but it still wiped out the zelda progress. The solution? Only put one game on it :D
