At the moment himself and Bellamy should be starting before Downing every time.

Hope Lucas is okay, but it looked like he jarred hes knee!

I reckon Kenny is striking a better balance with rotation which helps deflect attention off the likes of Downing, Henderson and Carroll.

Great stuff tonight. Lucas injury a worry but we have a "soft" run of games coming up.

Carroll playing like a player with no confidence. Was the same story with Robbie Keane....couldn't fault him for effort but at times popping up in his own box just getting in the way. Missing a peno was the last thing he needed. Torres shocking.

Id be more worried about Downing than Carroll and Hendo, at least they have showed glimpses of what they can do. For me Downing has done nothing for us!

Didn't see the game or hear it so will watch the highlights at 11.10/11.40 (depending which version of BBC1 one watches), but Carroll not converting a peno is a poor sign (did he demand the ball or what?)

Carroll was trying too hard. A cliche I know, but instead of just holding his position up front and occupying the centre-backs, he kept dropping into midfield and defence when Chelsea had the ball. Then when Liverpool broke, he was rushing to get back into position so when the ball was played to him, he was more often than not scrambling for it.

I'd start Maxi v Fulham too.

He got a hatrick in that fixture last season.

And to think some people wanted rid of him in the summer...;)

Nine goals in his last ten starts. Not bad.

Have to give special to this man tonight, some pro to even be out there given how close he was to Gary Speed.

Now we have to win these so called ''soft'' games after 3 super performances against the ''top'' teams. Time to start putting these great performances into goals too. Just seen the goals for stat we have this year:o Although the defence has been great:)

    Would like to see

    Reina

    Lucas
    Adam

    ---Downing
    Suarez
    Bellamy----

    Carroll

Hard to leave Maxi out after the last few games but I think Downing is not performing as bad ad people are making out and would like to see him get a prolonged bit of time on the right.

Not jumping the gun here at all but just a heads up to anyone going to the Derby and may be booking flights - Carling Cup final is on the same weekend. Something to keep in mind before handing Michael O Leary cash..

I thought Carroll was poor if I am honest. People seemed to have lowered expectation so low in regards to him that if he holds the ball up and actually manages to find a team mate with some of his passes then he has had a good game. Times tonight he did hold it up well and lay it off but instead of spinning to get into the box as soon as he released it, he stood like the cat that had got the cream admiring his good bit of play. I can't remember apart from the penalty during the match a time when he looked remotely close to scoring. Did he even have a shot on target ?

Maxi Rodriguez goes down the wing down the wing....big shout-out to the travelling kop, could have been a home match for all the world. Great to see everyone pulling in the one direction.

Echo what everyone else has said about star performers & hopefully the news on Lucas is good, he absolutely owned Nando. (my god he was invisible for the majority)

Kenny has refused to give interview to Sky after the game, put that in your pipe and smoke it Mr Wewontmovethekickofftime. :pac:

The old pros seem to be thriving under Kenny, major contrast to Roy, says a lot.

Great work lads on the praying for Lucas, might restore my belief in God!

I think there is something to the 3 signings trying too hard whereas Bellamy, Maxi and Enrique and Adam to a certain extent haven't the same pressure. Hopefully it rubs of on them.

I don't think we're going to make much progress on Carroll without giving him an extended run in the team. He needs games, he needs confidence, and it's not doing him any good throwing him in for fixtures like these.

Unfortunately, we're not in a position to give him that run of games. Maybe an injury or two will give him his chance later in the season.

I've always said Maxi was too good to shift on, any "fringe" player who can slot into the starting 11 and score pretty much every time is worth his weight in goals.

I should say on the flip side of the coin if compare Carroll's contribution out there tonight to Torres he had one hell of a game :pac:

Kenny starting to get some selection headaches, 4 centre backs playing well, 2 right backs who I reckon most clubs bar city would be all over, Maxi, Kuyt, Downing, Henderson, Bellamy all looking to get time on the wings.

Sources say a frustrated Torres tried to kick the dressing room door. They also confirm that he missed it, hit the wall and injured his leg

    Lol
"I am joining a team that is at the top level, there is not another level after Chelsea. Chelsea have the chance every season to win all the trophies that they play for, so when you have the chance to play in a team like this you cannot say no."

    Unlucky, Fernando.
