Try switching to FFA if your on your own.

Why Sham? With the spawning & maps in MW3 I think FFA is a bit tougher. With TDM or Kill confirmed you can judge where the enemy is by looking at where your team mates are.

I'd stay away from FFA and objective games like domination, capture the flag etc (HQ not so much) as if you're not great at the game you can get slaughtered, frustrated & very angry.... easily leading to this:

Look at YouTube with Tallon, Thomasheen and the rest of the lads that post their vids it's invaluable completely, I have been playing since may this yr after a break of bout 6 yrs blops, mw2 and now mw3 and I'm not out of the top half of the score board too many times, don't get too obsessed with K/D too much, you learn off people
Don't look too much at youtube commentators. 80% are absolute campers.

A small few are indeed campers but if you look at some of the few who do the decent thing you can up your game, I certainly have upped my game from looking at a few, it's a bit like the veteran and the noob vid

Stick to kill confirmed, team deathmatch or Headquarters

to be honest i would stay away from HQ and kill confirmed, they have no really set spawns so you will find that enemy's will spawn beside you

What really? and TDM does? Why is this so?

I've found the spawns on defender and capture the flag frustrating and have played very little of those games as a result

Team defender on Hardhat is fun though. Everyone just hangs around the pipe.

You end up with loadsa kills and deaths! Mad craic it is sure it is Ted!!

If he's going 3-30 camping a little isn't a bad idea. Everyone hates campers but with all those deaths he needs to camp a little along with assassin pro, silencer, stick to the outside of the map as opposed to doing a Rambo through the middle, watch where you team mates are and where they die, don't sprint but try not to stand still for more than a second or two either

edit: add regular posters from the "about last night thread" and message them that your from boards, the game is much easier when playing with a few friends

OP, not sure what format you are on but I suggest adding people from the About Last Night threads(there is a PC, PS3 and 360 dedicated thread, check the original post in each thread for names) and/or Sharing Gamertag thread.

Also I typed this out in the MW3 tips thread, might be worth have a read through. Up to you.

Personally I'm all over the place, I get destroyed some games and then kick ass in others. One bizarre thing I'v noticed is I usually play with a mate and any time we play after a night on the beers we seem to do significantly better! :D I've no idea why but we've chalked it up to playing less cautiously and more aggressively while drunk.

OP I suggest you use an automatic assault rifle with a silencer, the scar m4 or acr. These guns do well up close and also work well at longer range.Try out marksman if you havent already. Its a great perk which will help you identify targets easier by making their name tags stick out. Most importantly use assasin. They wont be able to find you unless they actually see you.Youll never appear on their radar.Stay around your teammates and use them to judge the enemies positions.Try not to run around but also dont stay in one spot too long as people will figure you out and kill you.For deathstreaks use dead mans hand. Its cheap but powerful!Use the support killstreaks because you can still earn them even if you die.Hope this helps.

God this kinda situation is the total opposite when Im drinkin. I just lose the plot and can't hit a thing and die a lot.

:D This is the usual outcome if spirits have been involved. Along with me shouting at my mate that 'the enemy are about to grab our flag, shoot him!' only to turn around and see he's passed out! He must have lightweight pro enabled... :pac:

I'm not bad at the game, but i'm not as good as i was on blops.
Gave up on mw3 for about a week as it just pissed me off so much. What i found was almost immediately after the game released people had already mastered the maps and i was running around like a madman trying not to die which led to me hating the game for a while .

The best advice i can give and what worked for me was try and find a class set-up you like early on, if you're constantly changing around classes and weapons i found it hard to get used to using new perks etc.

Camping in one room and then moving to another room when you die doesn't count as hiding behind cover !!

    Its just Camping !!!

You are going down tonight !!!

headphones are a must if you ask me.. you can bring your playing to a whole other level just by using your ears..

What did you find yourself doing differently? Did you make changes to your loadout or your game settings or was it just in game tactics?

Headphones are quite important in this, really noticed an improvement in my play when I started wearing them again.

Two pieces of advice that should let you build up your rank quicker which will make it a lot easier to get a better K/D ratio

Yeah I am well bad at it.

    My k/d is 0.35 !

I still like playing it though , have put in over 7 days now and have actually managed to prestige and get perks like hardline pro in that time.

That said in my defence it my first online MP game , and I play on a laptop.

    I did find ;

not playing when angry or getting frustrated.
    playing slower
finding a gun I like and sticking to it ..
    playing hardcore

    all helped.
