Need help, How to fix my ipod ?

    So I wanted to update my ipod touch to ios5.
    It got to a certain point and then an error popped up saying something along the lines of "unknown error your ipod cannot be restored".

    now my ipod isn't recognised when its connected by USB and so doesnt show up on itunes.
    I can't turn on my ipod it just says "connect to itunes".
    I've tried restarting the ipod and the computer but nothing changed.

    I'm not good with these type of things and I dont have a clue how to fix it.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
