I have missed 4 tutorials due to health problems, anyone know if I have a sick cert from my doctor and the departments already know of preexisting health issues would I be covered?

Best to contact the department to be sure; each one has different procedures for this kind of thing

You should be fine if you get a sick note, but as Daemos says, make sure and get in touch with your department and tutor and explain why you weren't there.

Did you notify them before you missed the tutorial?

I was refused with a medical cert because I didn't call or email before missing them.

I have been warned of the same thing, I must inform them if I am going to be ill, that way they can put me in a earlier tutorial in the week.

Talk to the tutor first. Sometimes department secretaries are entirely unreasonable. Depending on the department really, as was already said. Also the lecturer.

Just a little bit more advice for you from my experience - keep up with doing a little bit of reading/research even though you're not at college, and maybe even go to one or two lectures a week if you can. Just helps to keep you in the college mode so when you go back next year it won't be such a shock to your system. If you need to know anything about the logistics of going back (registering again, fees etc) just send me a PM :)
