Paper recycling frame - Where to get some?!

Hi all,

Im a primary teacher and a number of the older children have asked me can they try to make recycled paper. I agreed to check it out but I can't find any of the small wooden frames that are needed to do it it seems.

Even one of the frames would do. Can anyone tell me where I can get my hands on one easily? Are they for sale anywhere?

You can get them here, but honestly €80 (go to the index and see 'frame and deckle') is way too much. They are quite simple to make and for starters plain sturdy net curtaining is ok as mesh.

I did quite a bit of paper making and made or recycled all the things I needed apart from the mesh which I did eventually buy. I strongly recommend a good bit of practise before taking it to the class!

That Paper Making Starter Pack is a crazy price- way too much

If you can't find the frames they are quite easy to make even if you lack woodwork skills. Get two plain picture frames of a suitable size and staple a piece of aluminium wire mesh across one of them. You can use fabric or plastic mesh but you need to stretch it tighter.Here's a good link

And now I think of it, you don't really need the deckle (thats the frame that you put on top of the mesh covered frame to give a neat edge). Beginners would find it too awkward to manage the deckle.

You can get aluminium mesh or plastic mesh in most good hardware stores.
