Seven of Nine was a massive potential security breach, regardless of her personality. We seen numerous times that Borg in close proximity cause problems for her.

The entire Maquis crew were considered terrorists.
Tom Paris was a criminal. I don't recall Ro Laren ever being on Voyager?
And there was usually a civilian of the week attending the meetings, be it alien or crew.

Thats sci-fi though, nitpicking that kinda stuff just defeats the purpose sure where would it end?

I thought you were referring to trek in general.. Any bog standard Fed officer would display those qualities you mentioned. I don't see how Neelix was so special. In that case, they couldn't operate the ship without the Maquis. In a survival situation the standard protocols can be relaxed a little. I can kinda go with that, because they needed all the help they could get to run the ship effectively. My memory of Voy is hazy but I think he proved his worth early on, it wasn't like he started out at the top, I recall he was promoted from ensign to lieutenant, then demoted again. In relation to aliens/civvies, well that's not sci fi, that's just Voy, and this would also apply partially to everything I said above, because I'm straining for reasons as to why Chakotay was made no.1 and not Tuvok or why Tom Paris wasn't immediately sent to do the lower decks to do scrubbing duties. They should have taken the plot in a completely different direction but due to Berman it was pepsi equivalent to TNG's cola.

They would have managed without the Maquis crew, Voyager is a small ship & there wern't that many Maquis either. Plus they were all given a choice whether to stay or leave.

Chakotay was made 1st officer, so it would build a bridge of trust betwen the two crews.

Paris was kept at the helm because of his piloting skills, the whole reason he was on board in the first place.

It was all too comfortable & too Starfleet. Its a situation where Roddenberrys vision breaks down, & just seems more sci-fi than the very stories they're trying to tell.

They're better reasons based on your more detailed knowledge of the show. Yes it was all too comfortable and starfleet. But being sci-fi has nothing to do with it. In fact Voy was more based in badly written fantasy than in sci fi as everything was solved through magic and the conventional dictates of plot. Voy was a slap in the face to fans.

I know this isn't worst episode, but remember Code of Honor from TNG?

Every single character stunk, be it the Ligonians or the Enterprise crew. The whole episode made me cringe for the entire thing. Awful, awful show. The casting for the show was plain stupid, the director must have been quite the bigot. Johnathan Frakes called it a "racist piece of ****". And why was season 1 Picard so condescendingly smug?

The Valiant crew from the Red Squad on DS9 - I have to admit that I wasn't that sad when the whole bunch of jumped-up twits were blown up.

Tuvix. The odd couple. In one body. In space. Ugh.

EMH Mk 2. Andy Dick is irritating, and I don't think he provided an adequate foil for the Doctor.

Katherine Pulaski. She came off as a huge bully to Data, and that was surprising considering the fact that Riker was no saint towards the guy for quite a while either. She just didn't seem to fit in really.

I always liked her but the writers did seem to be trying too hard to turn her into McCoy. I did think she had more personality than Crusher though.

ahhahaaha, Data's reaction at the end, fcking priceless, that would be such a gazorra edit right there. This is what I like about season 1 TNG, including the lamentable Code of Honour, it just would never get on the screen these days, so cheesy, so deplorably bad, so brilliant! +1 on Pulaski, I forgot about her.

Not really sure what people could have against Jellico! The only cringeworthy thing about him was his "Get it done" catch-phrase, which was obviously supposed to contrast with Picard's "Make it so".

But so many to choose from.. Vash, Q, Kes comes really close... Wesley... pretty much anyone from Voyager other than The Doctor or maybe Belanna. But THE most cringeworthy character has to be:

Jadzia Dax!

..Now, maybe it's just a quirk of being a Trill host of many different former personalities that gives her that odd kind of smugness that she constantly has on, with her bad porn-actor voice.... but then why wasn't Ezri Dax the same way? Or maybe all Trill hosts are really smug because they thing they're great having successfully gone through the whole process (Ezri didn't go through it all, of course) But I just grimaced every time she (Jadzia) had a scene on her own.

They haven't really got a reason to be smug when they have a giant turd parasite thing inside them.

I quite liked Jadzia. Except for those Klingon quests, that whole thing seemed a bit forced. I know she was tying up loose ends from Curzon's lifetime, but it didn't really work for me. Smugness or confidence? Poor acting on her part, maybe.

It wasn't just Jadzia or Curzon I think. Remember "Invasive Procedures"? Verad gets a complete personality change when he gets the Dax symbiont for a short time. He was rejected from the program, so I'll assume (probably incorrectly) that he got little or no training.

The real rationale for that was to have completely different characters, I think. Not much point in replacing Jadzia with another Jadzia imo.

I thought host and symbiont lived in symbiosis? I think the creatures that tried to take over Starfleet in S1 TNG would fit that description better.

I didn't like Ezri at all. I've always thought of her as a valley girl, she seemed so ditzy and so ready to leap out of her own skeleton. That didn't work for me either, it was supposed to show how new and unfamiliar she was to her assignment and symbiont and stuff. It got really annoying very quickly.

I like John De Lancie's Q. The son of his was annoying, and the female Q really did make me cringe now that I come to think of it.

Although I did like the time traveler Alexander. Played by a good actor as well.

Not so much cringeworthy, but plain irritating, and that was Kira. It was her tough butchiness and then aweful outbursts of crying, her sappy religiousness or make-me-gag sexiness either as the alternate sleazy Bi-sexual version or with some Bajoran minister and Odo. Odo was cool, why he ever liked Kira is beyond me!

Kira kind of annoyed me, she always had a scowl on her face and was p1ssed about something or other. And the whole, these are my beliefs, the occupation, you've offended me with your religious insensitivity yadda yadda yadda, sigh no one cares anymore.

I felt sorry for Alexander. His dad wasn't really interested in raising him, and he ended being a half assed Klingon warrior. His heart as whats his name said, wasn't really in it so why did he persist in it? He would never be as great a warrior as Worf and I think that's not where his talent lied, he could have been a better artist/musician/bohemian as his kinship with Luxwana Troi suggested. But instead he grew up to be a crappy warrior who was ridiculed by his cohort maybe because he wanted to impress Worf or because his identity was compromised in not being a warrior. Its this kind of every Klingon must be a warrior or every human kid has to join starfleet which was indicative of bad writing.

I have to say I loved Jelico - the great Ronny Cox (who was in everything in the 80s, as well as the voice for Admiral Bosch in the epic Freespace 2) - you were supposed to hate the guy though and aside from making Troi wear the regular uniform

I thought he was great.

Can't agree on the Jellico thing. He saw right through Riker for a start, who went off in a monumental sulk and should have been fired...out of a photon torpedo tube.

Riker's dad is the most cringeworthy character in a cringeworthy episode.

Wesley is an obvious cringeworthy character but I think "The Traveler" beats him. The Traveler had great potential to be an amazing character, which I think they should have developed more, but instead they made him into some frail wimp with a paedo fascination for that annoying brat Wesley. If the traveler could travel the Universe why did he like Wesley? That's what makes me cringe!

I think Wesley is about the only cringeworthy character but there are a few I don't like, TNG episode Rascals with the annoying kids comes to mind.
