Total novice with a stupid question!

    Hi there,

    I am looking for a bit of advice if you dont mind a few really stupid questions, I just can't get my head around aerials/rabbit ears/saorview!

    Here is my situation. I have UPC in the sitting room only. I have a telly in the kitchen which I bought a rabbit ears for. I can get rte 1/2 but the reception is crap. I can't get tv3 or tg4. My Dad says I should get an aerial for the roof and rings me this morning to say they are an aldi special this week for €24.99, but if I put an aerial on the roof does it then need to be plugged into something? How does the tv in the kitchen know that there is a new aerial on the roof? I know I sound like an utter eejit but I really am stumped as to how this all works!
