very unfair, his ''FEE'' has been significantly decreased to around 200-250k a year ;)

I doubt that after what was in the papers yesterday. Duffy is on €390,000 in 2009, down from €408,000 in 2008. 2009 was the year when more people were let go than any other year, when we were told that RTE presenters were taking a voluntary pay cut of 10%. 18k of 408k is just over 4% so I'd takes Joes announcement of a 30% pay cut with a cargo ship of salt for the meantime.

Joe is taking a break now to give the soldiers a chance to switch on their hearing aids.

This Brown guy with the awful voice is just that kind of guy who moans about everything.

    Current caller is absolutely right.

And no point in Joe reading out politicians pensions again, you are not comparing like with like...

Interesting tactic for someone who gets paid 4 times the average TD's pay and works about 25% of what they do. I'm sick to death of the cnut taking pot shots at public and civil service people but yet refuses point blank to discuss RTE's own set up.

RTE paid its top 10 presenters over €4,000,000 in 2009, the last year that figures are available. If they were paid half that, it would leave €2,000,000 over that could be paid to try to introduce new presenters onto RTE or get a few dozen apprenticeships going there.

Alternatively they could take less of a subsidy from the taxpayer which is paid every year on top of the licence fee or attempt to get some half decent home grown programmes made, something RTE are saadly lacking in.

Joe doesn't get a pension as he is not an RTE employee. he is a sole trader so he has to provide for his own pension. .. same applies to Pat Kenny. He also has to provide/ pay for a stand in when he is on his holidays...

It killed me this year paying out 160 euros to RTE, its a huge amount for what we get in return.

I had to switch off there...Duffy has wheeled out an official line now about mister's pensions? Nice sly dig there.
    Who's this on with him?

God love him, with his small salary having to provide for his own pension.

Im sure the money he has creamed over the years earning 6 figures sums will help ease the pain.

He does have a medical card.

He said he only got the medical card when he was 66.

But sure it's so painless..you could pay it weekly or by direct debit. I mean it's only 3.20 a week. Less than a newspaper.
Could you live with the shame?

Thanks for pointing that out to me Harry.
Joe is now using the soldiers entitlement story as a stick to beat politicians with and at the same time sending a warning shot out to current politicians to say hands off Joe's money!
This show always runs to Joe's personal; agenda.

I'm pretty sure thats not the case....Its up to RTE to fill the slot. They get a staffer like Damo to make a ham fisted job of it
