Reuters; Vatican is "extremely irritated" by our stunning decision
    :pac::pac::pac:
Diplomats said the Irish move might sway others to follow suit to save money because double diplomatic presences in Rome are expensive.

the Vatican sees its diplomatic role as promoting human values.

    Perfect Examples
    Of what?

Have you ever actually contributed anything remotely useful to this forum? Clearly you have issues and can't stand us heathens, but you could at least try to contribute instead of you stupid little one liners that I presume you think are highly intelligent and funny.

    World's smallest violin...
Oh, oh, I know this one. Is it, per chance, playing just for them?

The media keep very quiet about Gilmore's past.

    Member of :

    Official Sinn Fein
    The Workers Party
    Democratic Left

The Workers Party, in which Gimore had a very active role, were fully supportive of the USSR's regieme, while they suppressed millions of eastern europeans, particulary with regard to freedom of religion. Of course after the USSR collapsed the rats deserted the sinking ship that was the workers party and set up "democratic" left.

Comrade Gilmore must have dreemed he would be in a Government one day, cutting off diplomatic ties with the Vatican, he just had to dream up an excuse to do so.

And Ratzinger was in the Hitler Youth. That's much worse. Your move.

Gimore was a volunteer and a leader. Your move.

I'm fairly sure gilmore hasn't raped any children, or covered for someone who did. Does that count?

Anyone who has previously joined the official Sinn Fein party has relinquished their right to opt out of anything. It's in their party contract.

Also, just curious, but did Benedict ever apologise for his time in the party?

I love the fact that every few years, the communist threat seems to crop up for no apparent reason. On a related note, anyone growing a moustache for Movember? It's clearly further Communism... Mine is looking rather like this Stalin's. God damn Commies are hiding around every corner.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 37,214 ✭✭✭✭Dudess

TQE, why don't you just accept not everyone believes what you believe? Jeez, why are you so angry about something people can't really help? Resorting to blurting out that everyone here is a Stalinist because they're non believers is just silly hon and something only a young un should be carrying on with. :)

You're being very unchristian and mean too. I wouldn't barge into Christianity to attack folk in there for not having the same belief system as I.

Now run along dear... /ruffles hair

Correct. Including the free will to force other people to comply with yours.

Something the Vatican wouldn't mind I've no doubt...

Gimore volunteered, and could opt out at any time, all Germans children were forced to join the Nazi Youth. So would you consider all those german children as "guilty" as Benedict ?

And the pope had the free will to refuse but he didn't.

you do know your constructing a massive ad hominem arguement right? might you be better served spending your time constructing an arguement that is actually valid as opposed to ad homs and godwins.

start here: what use is an embassy in the vatican?

I've heard that the building housing the Irish Embassy to Paedophilistan is rather important in the history of Italy, as it was once the home of Garibaldi or some such prominent figure. It will be good for our image to have our Embassy to Italy (a real country) there.;)

The move does not mean that diplomatic relations are being severed, since the Irish ambassador will be based, most likely, in Dublin. It will be interesting to see where they base the Papal Nonce, though.:)

Not at all. Some of them have expressed regret over it.

No, I'm just saying that according to your lot, god gave us free will.

Unless of course, you're now saying that little Benny didn't have free will at the time because of enforced compliance? But that couldn't possibly be true, because that would mean that god's threat of fire and brimstone if you don't adhere to his silly little rulebook would also count as enforced compliance.

You wouldn't last long, either, if you did. Just the slightest hint of questioning their certainty that there is a sky fairy who looks after everything, and the "report" buttons will be feverishly pressed as the xians, to whom humour and dissent are utterly alien, scream for your blood and a ban will immediately follow.

    The enthusiastic members perhaps.

Ratzinger was conscripted, as membership was required by law for all 14-year-old German boys, he unenthusiastic member who refused to attend meetings, he was then drafted into the German anti-aircraft corps but deserted back to his family's home as soon as he could.

But he is not the topic. Gilmore and his action is.

Not a single one of the German children forced to join the Hitlerjugend by a totalitarian regime was guilty of anything.:)

However, as soon as the dictatorship had been crushed and dismantled, most of them eagerly embraced democracy and helped build up the Germany that we know today.:)

Beingadick, by contrast, is now the head of Europe's last remaining absolute monarchy, a polity where there is no semblance and not even the pretence of democracy.

Nah, just the ones that claim to be moral leaders.

But you've so far been unable to prove that his action was as reprehensible as you believe it to me. Beside accusing of him of being a stalinist. :D

He was conscripted into an organisation as a youth which had one man at the head of the organisation, whose word was law.

Ratzinger later joins an organisation who require children to be made members before they can speak, and which has one man (whose word is law) as the head of the organisation, who claims to be the mouth-piece of a creature that created the universe.

Seems like the cult of personality made an impression on young Ratzinger.

If you can read this, you're too close!
