    I was under the impression that it's down to the number of threads that you have posted in that your matches have also, which would explain Wolfe Tone and Keith.

    Yes it's to do with who you quoted I think. Storminateacup got me and we post in the nest, there is no thanks button there.

    'Tis not. There are several factors that determine the results. It works on a kind of points system, points are applied whenever you thank someone, they thank you, whenever you post in a thread someone started or they post in one of yours etc.

    I know fuck all about programming and all that jazz but it's a bit unfair to be putting it out that it's just a random thing when one of the boards.ie geeks took the time to write up the dealy that works it out. Maybe it's basic 1st year of college stuff, I dunno, but I couldn't do it. Plus it's fun, innit?

    It was a points system.

    If you are user A and I'm calculating the matching score for you with user B:
    3 points for each time user A thanked user B
    Excluding buddy list
    Excluding ignore list
    Excluding any user B who hasn't been active in the last 6 months
    6 points for each time user B thanked user A
    Excluding buddy list
    Excluding ignore list
    Excluding any user B who hasn't been active in the last 6 months
    1 point for each time user A replied to a thread started by user B
    Excluding buddy list
    Excluding ignore list
    Excluding mod & admin forums
    Excluding threads over 6 months old
    2 points for each time user B replied to a thread started by user A
    Excluding buddy list
    Excluding ignore list
    Excluding mod & admin forums
    Excluding threads over 6 months old
    1 point for each time user A PMed user B
    Excluding buddy list
    Excluding ignore list
    For mods, excluding PMs to co-mods
    Excluding PMs over 6 months old
    2 points for each time user B PMed user A.
    Excluding buddy list
    Excluding ignore list
    For mods, excluding PMs to co-mods
    Excluding PMs over 6 months old

    The points were added up and then adjusted to a 0-10 scale. 0 was 0 and 10 was the highest number of points by any person you matched with.

    Sorry. I knew it excluded friends lists and I forgot about the rest of how it's put together so I concluded "randomly generated". :o
