Help with media

Hi

May not be the right forum....

I have Macbook, Airport Extreme, Airport Express and Internet radio

I have HDD plugged into Extreme and shared

I have eyeconnect on Macbook acting as media server and then radio connects upnp to HDD to stream my music

I want to avoid the use of the mac as i tend to close it and then loose connection

Looking for advice on what to get...

If i buy something like a Lacie 1TB does it have software built in to act as server? I could then plug this into Airport express and connect to nw?

Any help appreciated

You might get a 1 bay Synology NAS plus a 1TB drive for about that but it would be pushing it. Synology are easily the best. The boxes are like mini servers, they act as media servers, file servers, Time Machine backup targets, downloaders and loads of other stuff

I have a DS211j with 2x 2TB drives mirrored and it's amazing.

Failing that, have a look at stuff by Western Digital.

Is the synology a box with no HDD ? So I would need synology and a HDD - Would my current 500GB work with the synology

Was looking at WD stuff

Would something like this work
