Anyone use a Maxroam SIM while abroad?

Just wondering if anyone would recommend MaxRoam SIM cards while abroad? Or are there better value SIMs for roaming? (in Europe?) Also,my phone is network locked at the minute,I presume this will be a problem?

from what I know the phone needs to be unlocked.
Ive used Maxroam sims... and they are excellent for abroad.
