Suarez lashed out and caught Evra on the knee. He should have been sent-off or at the very, very least booked.

He barely touched him Paully, it was absolute minimal contact. It was hardly Lee Cattermole standered.
There is no way any of us can tell how hard he hit him.

Don't know why people are talking about the ref. He certainly didn't decide the game one way or another. What decided the game for me was ****ing woefulness by Giggs, not just for the wall but throughout, and a weak ass team selection from Fergie.

Nonetheless, 1-1 at Anfield, will take it every time.

Liverpool fan here. Not too happy with the result given the chances we missed, but a point against United isn't the worst. De Gea had a great game. Whatever about there being contact with Adam, it was a dive. No fully grown man should go down that easily with the minimum of contact. Probably should be a free kick regardless but he made a meal of it. He's not the only one to do it though and I hate to see it. Downing deserved a yellow for his dive.
I thought Ferguson's starting 11 was poor. Made for a worse game in my opinion, although I feel a lot more comfortable with no Rooney or Hernandez in the team. For once I'm happy with Henderson's contribution, although a goal would have been nice to close out the game. All in all, a fair result for both teams I'd imagine.

Has Kelly let Young out of his back pocket yet?

Thought he was a bit quiet but yeah, did a very good job at keeping an inform Young quiet. Seems the real deal if he can keep the injuries at bay.

What has Lee Cattermole got to do with it? We're discussing an incident in the Liverpool V Manchester United game and not Sunderland.

Was it hard to decided who you were going to shout for today considering you've supported both clubs in recent times? Coin toss just before kick-off to decide, was it?

Kelly and Smalling were the 2 standout players for me.
Ray Wilkins must have been watching a Stevie G highlights reel.

Found it astonishing Gerrard was man of the match,Ray Wilkins is off his game and hes also a woeful commentator IMO.

I thought man of the match should of been Smalling or Ferdinand.

Smalling stood out a mile as man of the match for me, didn't put a foot wrong all game and really looked the part. What a special talent he is.

Ferdinand, Suarez, de Gea and Kelly were the others that performed quite well.

Evra was an idiot for making that hand gesture, but anyone that thinks that is as bad or worse than diving needs their head examined.

Its stupid and he shouldnt have done it but diving is a lot worse. Its funny people would be okay with him making the diving gesture (which he did orginally) which means a yellow (I think, correct me if I'm wrong... if it doesn't it should) but as soon as he makes the card one to the ref everyones on top of him.

Regarding the game it was a great point for United as Liverpool got a lucky goal thanks to Giggs who was poor today. Pool were very unlucky not to grab a winner with a free header and two other efforts from Henderson and Kuyt(I think).

Liverpool shaded the game so I think a draw was a great result for United. Wins in the CL and against City would mean a very good start to the season with Vidic, Cleverly and Rafael to come back soon. Pool should reach the top-4 easy if they keep Suarez, Downing and Gerrard fit.

De Gea, Smalling and Rio were decent for United. I genuinely thought Gerrard deserved his MOTM.

Enrique was good overall but he lost and gave away the ball a few times. I'd have the above four in front of him for MOTM tbh

On the Evra issue,he shouldnt of done it but diving is just as bad IMO. Trying to get someone booked is wrong, its unsporting and a form of cheating.
I remember In the first half the ball deflected off Gerrard and went out and he made a fuss and claimed it was a Liverpool corner, thats cheating aswell IMO.Its trying to gain an advantage unfairly.

As for him being man of the match i dont no what game you were watching because although he played well there was far more deserving players.

Dont get me wrong it is wrong...but when someone genuinely dives and the decision goes against you then I can feel for Evra in that circumstance which is what happened. I'm not saying its acceptable, I just think its laughable that if he just made the diving gesture there wouldnt be as much about it and also its overshadowing a dive.

OK I didnt watch the game properly sorry :). He didnt win it by a long shot but I thought he had a great game and imo was Pools best player, and they just shaded the game. Would have been happy if they gave it to De Gea though. Was delighted with his performance and hoping he can kick on and improve even more as the season goes on.

Save it for the playground on Monday.

It's crap like this that makes nearly every match thread descend into utter rubbish.

It's a grey area to me,definitely not a form of cheating.
It's not much different than calling for a foul that isn't given.
Sturridge got booked for the same thing a few minutes ago,if the refereeing was consistent he wouldn't have had to ask for a card.
Diving is supposed to be a yellow card offence, there should be no grey area there at all.

Just saw the goal there. Rio caught him but not enough to go down. Dive imo Had the wall done its job we wouldn't be talking about it.

Yep that was a dive too and I won't shut the fúck up so I won't hey hi. Keep that stuff for the playground too hi.

IMO there were three things wrong with Liverpool's goal, obviously the over reaction to award the free, De Gea's positiong for the free (He was far to close to his right stick, as soon as I noticed this I said it was in) and of course Gigg's jumping out of the way from the ball. Now I thought De Gea had a brilliant game and perhaps his positioning was down to him believing he set the wall up perfectly, which he did had Giggs just taken the hit.
So I believe we were more at fault for the goal than just blaming it on Adams.

Giggs the fcuking idiot! Shocking dive in the first place though. Typical cheats.

Posts like this are the reason i don't bother posting on this forum much tbh.

Anywho just back from the game a little drunk and annoyed with the result. Think we played really well, controlled the game, not that it was hard to do so,seeing as they came for a point, which they eventually got. Feeling disappointed we dropped two points but guess that's a sign we played well. Main positives were Kelly closing down Young, Suarez general play,Adams play under pressure was superb and our captain capped a full 90mins with a goal.
Three winnable games on the bounce to follow and it's obvious the team is making progress under the King.

Also just as a sidenote, first time ive been on the kop for a Liverpool/Utd game in more than 10 years and i was surprised by the lack of atmosphere given the importance of the game and the opponents. Guess it's a sign of the times not sure but not great all the same.
