You'd wet yourself at the sheer awesome of that tv on its side.

He had that CRT rotated, a supergun with Raiden PCBs, two Dreamcast arcade sticks for the supergun and a bowl full of jelly beans which kept refilling itself.

Couldn't ask for more to be honest. :D

I think I've just soiled myself.

The "setup" is back upstairs so dismantled for the minute. I had tried the PCB's on my LCD but they flickered alot (Raiden II was near unplayable), then tried them on the Sony Wega 37" CRT (last of the old school giants) and they were ok, but I can't rotate a 37". So a 21" CRT + green goblin dc sticks modded for the supergun = happy days for now.

Raiden I and II are brilliant games (in case I hadn't said that before :D). The attention to detail in II with all the extra animation is class, the way the wreckage of ships falls to the ground and creates craters etc.

Isn't rotating a CRT a fast lane ticket to a broken CRT?

Not sure. Maybe if it was left rotated permanently and you played it everyday would it get damaged? Or maybe you'd need to get a degauss wand jobbie. Tell you what, buy me an Egret II then I'd be happy to give you my 30 quid CRT to look after. :D

Well I've broken a PC CRT monitor and a CRT TV by turning them on their sides. If screws up the magnets and tube adn you end up getting discolouration onthe sides of the screen that creeps up the screen after a few days until everything is purple and then the TV breaks. Once you get discolouration even if you don't turn the TV on its side again the TV will destroy itself in a few days. Arcade monitors are designed to work horizontal or vertical but normal TVs will break when vertical. Just a warning.

I think it's just a degauss issue? I mean if there was an problem with it then people wouldn't be able to rotate monitors in cabs. It would be one of the reasons cabs have degauss buttons.

Loads of the guys over on Shmups.com seem to have normal CRT televisions for rotated play. If the colours start to go wonky and the TV isn't degaussing itself properly, then it may be a good idea to invest in one of those wand things. Not sure how much they cost though.

hmm interesting. I've had a lot of trouble with rotating CRTs but this thread says you just need to be careful:

Worth keeping in mind ofr tate fans :)

Anyone know if comments are automatically deleted if someone blacklists you? Just wondering if they were deleted by an adverts moderator or not. Seems a bit strange when the item is listed as new but clearly opened and used.

If you are blacklisted, your comments won't even post

No one can delete comments except Adverts Mods.

Mods deleted all the posts in this case

I posted a comment on it just asking if it really is new.
Just to see what he says.
I wonder will he blacklist me for just asking the question?

he has actually removed the images of it out of the box now, so i wouldnt be suprised if he tried to say its brand new in the box!

Tbh its getting beyond a joke now

Why are the adverts staff not taking action

Maybe we should bid for it as a group just so we could meet him and knock the living crap out of the idiot

Adverts changed a good while ago.. They're all about Stats and numbers now than a community

Even a few of the mods stepped down at the time

I may be getting a bit cheeky with the questions on his ad now.
    I expect a blacklist shortly :D

    edit:
Yeah, I just noticed he removed the pic of the console out of the box after me mentioning it.

    What add?

Probably best not to mention it's location, just giving the guy extra traffic, make him think that charging so much for a allegedly "new" console is the right thing to do.
Suffice to say that I have body parts that are fresher looking then that thing!

Found it by you simply saying "new" in above post :P

Well, on a different note to all this dodgy old/new console lark.
I have a brand new and never user SNES and PSP going up on adverts tonight.

Only serious offers on these please as they are worth a lot of cash and you can tell they were never used because I have them in their original boxes. The boxes aren't sealed but because they are in a box they are new. I only took them out of the boxes to take the below pictures.

    Few pics below:

I've received this last week, but didn't have chance to post it here.
Both of those are flash carts for 8-bit ATARI.
The one on the left uses old eeprom chips, which can be burned using Atari!
The one one the right uses Compact Flash cards, also there is internal memory with Sparta Dos and real time clock.

How many versions of Boulder Dash I can fit onto 512MB cart? :)
