hi i've recently been made redundant after 12 years and wanted to go back into training. I started a fetac sport and recreation course this week, its a two day week course which i thought i'd enjoy but after seeing what the modules will be i think its too much for me. do you think i'd be allowed to swap to another course. There is a computer course & IT skills that also started this week that i think i'd be more suited to. thanks

Whether you can swap to another course is entirely up to the college.

However, don't panic. This is all new to you, its daunting. Don't worry about the sound of the modules, they all sound much more complicated than they are, which is why I try not to emphasise the written module too much.

If you have a class tutor, go and have a chat and explain exactly what your problems are. It will not affect how you get on in the module and it might reassure you, or indeed, convince you to change. Of course there might not be any spaces on the IT course at this stage.

i did a fetac sport and recreation course and trust me its a lot easier than the modules sound. most of them are marked on the projects you do throughout the year so start them early. the lecturers are usually fairly ok with exams as well and will give you lots of hints on whats coming up :)
