At least they admitted it, but I agree the damage was done for some kids who got a bollocking.

They were told first, before anyone else on the floor, anything before that was educated guesswork.

Meesared you are one of the top contributors to this thread yet your noise to info ratio is very high on the noise side and low on info. This in it's self could explain why you were cut of the memo circulation. If you were working for me I would tell you nothing and feel safe I was doing the right thing!

Considering a week or two ago you were sure there was no problem and now we know there was, how can you be so certain that there wasn't knowledge of this problem that you weren't given at that time?

Conspiracy Theories is this way man -->

One thing I get from this thread is people saying that MS are always right and this is the first time anything like this happened. How can we be sure of this? Maybe it's just the first time MS admitted to a mistake. As for saying that this case, like all others, was subject to thorough investigation, and the OP was told that MS had, in fact, taken:
additional steps to review and reconfirm the enforcement action taken against the console and stand behind the decision.
I am not exactly filled with confidence in Microsofts investigation procedures, that an investigation and additional steps didn't show the correct facts. I just hope that this debacle leads to a major review of the banning process.

Incidentally I see the need for a banning system but it seems the implementation of this is heavy handed to say the least.

That's not a very reasonable response, I'm not really pushing a conspiracy theory, given that North1 has emails from weeks after the end date of this problem as given by Microsoft which say there was no problem.

Have a read back through the thread.

As a footnote to this debacle I had a long phone conversation with the head of Escalations in the UK, it was relatively open conversations were I brought up my experiences with support, the lack of information coming from Xpet on the general reasons for console bans and the fact that the issue even though claim to be thoroughly investigated did not seem to be. He thanked me for pushing the issue as it was our complaints that raised the issue and flagged there was a problem and though not seen support was passing the information to Xpet saying there is a problem And that they are not working to rebuild the customer support relationship. I believed him on this as he seemed to me to be a genuine person.

He gave me assurance that the system used to cause the ban has ceased and that the investigation into what went wrong is still on going. The channel of communication between us is still open as they might need more information from me in relation to the ban and I am more than willing to help in this.

He also said that if I have any issues in the future I can contact them directly and he would help out as best he can. This is the Microsoft support I was use to in the past. I got to say after the phone conversation today I felt a lot better over the struggle of the last three weeks, and has restored a little my faith in Microsoft that in the long run that they will do the right thing.

Thanks again to you guys on both sides of the agreement that made this an interesting read and also raised the issue publicly and in the end worldwide. We had a great debate. Anyway I’m opening a pie store the special will be Humble Pie for the next week.

As you know my Nick is N0RTH I play black opes at night rarely when I get a chance at the TV, but I am looking forward to Battlefield 3 and will be getting that, If you see me on line say “hello”.

I'm glad to be the one to prove you wrong on this Hightower and be your first case of wrongful banning. I'm also glad I didn't follow your advice and buy a new console and swallow that hard pill.....have you learned any lesson during this debacle?

lolz, North are you actually trawling through the entire thread and quoting people who believed you had actually done wrong and replying to each one individually?????:eek::eek::eek:

Ladies and gents.... what a class act. LMAO

That pretty sad dude, pretty sad.
You have a kid so I can at least assume your over 18 years old? Grow up man, really. You were right, fair play, I was wrong but now reviewing the entire thread for people who didnt believe ya really shows your maturity level and for what could have been used as a useful citation for others who feel they were wrongfully banned has just been tarnished by that petty behavior.

Saying things like "have you learned a lesson" is clearly attempting a superior tone and is especially ironic when taken into context that you went back days in a quite large thread to quote some one and basically say "nah nah nah nah anah nah!" .... I'm sure the irony of wanting to sound superior while sticking your proverbial tongue out at someone on an Internet forum is not lost on you.

Its not only petty and childish but also against forum rules where your quite clearly not looking to discuss anything but are in fact just trolling. Good luck to you, you seem to schizophrenically move from logic and reason to the depths of childish behavior at the drop of a hat.

    Ok one last one.

Even though I think the above is troll material....

This is coming from mister mountain and mole hill guy I figured you need a reminding of what humble pie tastes like but I guess you don't like how it tastes given your reply above. Get over it, if I was proved wrong I'm sure you would have had a great time reposting my post like in the the other famous thread. If you can stand over what you posted you should have no fear having what you posted dragged up again.

As to if i pulled up every negitive post here the thread would be a third bigger again so I wont do that.....only for the special cases..... :)

You really dont know what was going on with us, we werent lying to you, we were going by what we were told, we didnt think they made mistakes, we thought everything was doublechecked. So dont go around like we knew any better and we were keeping stuff from you. I found out at about 4PM (and we were the first team on the floor who found out), and it was public knowledge by 6PM we really didnt know what was going on. As far as we were concerned the bans were legitimate.

I'm sorry but YOU were the one to quote me from a week ago in order to trot out an "I told you so"? I think its obvious that doing something like this was childish , trolling and flaming. (The final two of which are against forum rules btw)

Excuse me but you dont know me from jack s**t so dont base your very immature actions on what you believed me - a total stranger - would do in your position. (for the record I'd have left it be, I dread to think this kind of behavior is what your setting as an example for your son)

I have no fear of what anyone quoting me, what I and others said in terms of MS being correct WAS wrong in this case. Those statements were based on the average amount of times people here and on other forums screamed innocence and were proven wrong / the track record of MS incorrectly banning consoles. Not a single person here was petty or ignorant towards you, none of us here banned you or caused you this hassle but yet you decide to be a dick once you do get an answer and start attempting this "I told you so" attitude aimed directly at certain posters (who were simply trying to be helpful btw) by direct quoting old posts with absolutely no intent other than to flame or troll.

Way to go, how many times did you search for any times online for examples like your case in order to try and provide hope or some example to show MS reps? What about if someone in your position tries the same in future and wants to send this thread on to MS as an example?... all you've managed to do is tarnish what WAS a great example that others could have used in future / made yourself seem like an arrogant so and so here. Good luck if your looking for any info here in future. Your attitude stinks.

Haven't read through all the thread but fair play North1 for sticking with it and getting satisfaction and with your head held high. A victory for the common man.

The begrudging you've suffered in this thread and the ordeal with microsoft, hopefully will make your next session of gaming all the sweeter next time you're online.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading every post in this thread. Delighted for you North, you showed this forum that MS can make mistakes. Your persistence to make yourself heard by MS got you the outcome you've deserved and you're well entitled to say "I told you so". See you on XBL ;)

Hightower1. One of the benefits of living in a free nation is one's right to assert their innocence, a right that should extend to private enterprise, if not then it's like a dictatorship, an oppressed nation within a free nation. We were accused of piracy, which is illegal and if charges were brought forward by Microsoft and proven to be true could result in felony charges, this is not child's play. The way a free nation works is like this " innocent until proven guilty" not "guilty until proven innocent" and especially not, as we have experienced over the last several weeks, just plain "guilty". Though you may see this as just an X Box being banned and then unbanned, look beyond the fun and games, this is about protecting one of the most basic fundamental rights that we enjoy because we live in a free nation. Thank goodness for people like North1 who recognizes that this isn't about being cut off from COD but about protecting one of our most basic fundamental rights. If we want to maintain a properly functioning democratic society and prevent the government and private enterprises from abusing their authority then the rights of the accused must be protected and due process of the Law must be upheld. It's quite shocking to think that anyone would just stand by and accept criminal accusations thrown their way without putting up a fight. Making mountains out of molehills, I think not.

So what if we have different poster from around the world with there different mannerisms this forum is a better place for them and we don't need comments like yours trying to make them fell unwelcome Thanks Angry mom for your input.

To newcomers to the thread, it summarises like this:

    * OP was console banned for reasons unknown to him
    * MS fanboys said he deserved it, even though they didnt know why he was banned
    * OP continues to plead innocence and perseveres chasing MS for an explanation
    * MS fanboys tells him to suck it up, MS NEVER gets it wrong.
    * MS erases Windows Vista and RROD memories from fanboys head
    * MS gets it wrong, banning people in error. The OP was affected
    * OP rejoices
    * MS fanboys refuse to eat humble pie and insist they never said what they originally said in the first place
    * OP buys a PS3 (*)

(*) may not be true but makes for a funnier ending
