New to PowerPC Mac. Problems with Dreamweaver CS3

    Hi all,

I am a newbie to Macs, and installed DW CS3. I had been making changes on a PC previously with Dreamweaver 8. I had the sites stored on an external hard drive so was making the changes and uploading them.

However, on the Mac, I can open the files on the external hard drive, but I can't copy files in to them or upload any files?

For example, when I was quickly creating pages on the PC, I would open a file, click "save as" , rename it, make the necessary text changes, and just upload it again. I can't seem to do this on the Mac.

I go into the folder on the external drive, open a file no problem, but when I click on "save as" and try to save it in the folder again, it won't let me, it keeps telling me "access to my external drive is denied" and I can't modify any files. I am at a bit of a loss. I wouldn't use DW much, so forgive my ignorance if I'm missing something basic on the Mac.

I managed to also save a file to the desktop, made my changes, went to upload it to the site again, and no joy, I couldn't load it up to the external drive. I don't think it's the external drive, but possibly a DW setting on the Mac I am missing out on?

Update: Ok, some more info. When I am in DW on Mac, and click on remote view, and try to "get" a file, I get an error "file activity incomplete". Not sure what the reason for this could be.........

    reinstall in order?

Do you have write access to the external drive? How is it formatted?

Sounds like your external drive is formatted in NTFS. If you download MacFuse and NTFS-3G you should have Write capability to your external drive under OS X.

Thanks guys, I'll give that a lash this morning and see how I get on.

In theory, what should be simple, I always make heavy work of!
