Mastodon's new album is fantastic. I know it's missing the raw aggressive heaviness that you'd see on Leviathan and it's a bit less progressive (although the synths on bedazzled fingernails and others are Floyd-esque), they've mastered those clean vocals and produced something more anthemic and melodic than they ever have. There aren't many metal bands that have the balls to go from all out rip-roaring metal to this. There's still that Mastodon core and while it's not an album unified by a single concept or sound, it still flows very well. </mini review>

Also, Tony left ASIWYFA.

Hopefully he'll record his VerseChorusVerse album now. Niall Kennedy is replacing him for the time being.
