UPC HD Channel No Volum Control

I am unable to adjust the volume on my HD channels using my UPC remote. The others are fine but the HD needs to adjusted using the TV remote.

Some of them need the volume up really high to get decent sound too.

Is this my HDMI cable or what?

    Cheers.

Try changing the remotes around, use the non HD box remote on the HD box. I have found this to work in the past. Two + boxes. One would do the volume, and one wouldn't. Swapped the remotes, and then the one that wasn't changing the volume did, and the other wouldn't.

On HD channels, surround sound is provided. The UPC box simply passes this through over your HDMI/SPDIF cable for decoding by your TV/5.1 receiver. This is the standard way digital audio is passed around, you can't change the volume on the passthrough device.

Not 100% sure, but if you don't have surround sound at home, it may be possible to have the UPC box downmix to stereo for you internally (have a look in settings, I'd be surprised if it wasn't there somewhere). Once you're already decoded, changing volume should be possible.
