Apart from the usual, know-it-all and incorrect comment about non-existent EEC regulations and the rails being replaced, it's an interesting look at CIE/IEs unique interpretation of mothballing. :rolleyes:

So that explains why no trains went to Youghal after the late 80s. So much for a "care and maintenance" regime.

Something like three/four miles of track were removed and NOT replaced. There is no EEC regulation about the lifting of closed lines - it is just a myth happily propagated by CIE and misinformed trainspotters.
