    Came across this http://irnirishrailwaynews.yuku.com/topic/2390/Re-055-in-Youghal-1988?page=-1 Youghal thread on IRN tonight with some nice pics from my old GSRPS friend Ken Fox and I'm sure that he won't mind me including one of them here. Apart from the usual, know-it-all and incorrect comment about non-existent EEC regulations and the rails being replaced, it's an interesting look at CIE/IEs unique interpretation of mothballing. :rolleyes:

    So that explains why no trains went to Youghal after the late 80s. So much for a "care and maintenance" regime.

    Something like three/four miles of track were removed and NOT replaced. There is no EEC regulation about the lifting of closed lines - it is just a myth happily propagated by CIE and misinformed trainspotters.
