Mount Temple isn't that bad, its always been in fantastic condition any time i've played it.

I played Mount Temple a few times about 8-10 years ago with a society. We generally enjoyed ourselves only one time they moved the tee boxes forward for us and some of the par 4's were almost driveable!

we got some lovely meals there at the time.

Hazelgrove...logically you should spend just as much time going downhill as you do going uphill but for some reason it doesn't work out like that.

    A dump.

were not at the christening 4 weeks ago in NEW FOREST when all 40+ meals were sent back to the kitchen, well i was and the Sat before i played a round in a group with the same outcome, food sh-t , cold and tastless

You must have misread the thread name, its irelands worst golf course, not irelands no1 food critic!!

Haven't played many but 100% Frankfield is terrible. It's actually an advantage if you have one leg amputated at the knee.

Another vote for Bodenstown (both courses) outside Sallins in Kildare. After a heavy shower the greens are totally submerged and the bunkers are impossible to go into because the ball will roll/bounce back out of them! Tends to attract people who want a step up from pitch and put but aren't interested in golf etiquette. Feel free to wear your finest united jersey and pair of reeboks.

Whats the story with people talking about food in a "worst golf course" thread?!
    Frankfield worst I've played

you must be easily pleased DTM. DUNBARRY is near Dunfanathy

No it isn't! There is no golf course called Dunbarry in Donegal and for that matter there is nowhere called Dunfanathy either. There is a very pleasant golf course in Dunfanaghy with an excellent collection of par3 holes.

I'm beginning to wonder if you tee off with a trusty seven iron.

For me it's Dunmore East in Waterford. The views are awesome, but the course was in bad nick when I last played there.

I would have to disagree with you there purpleblaa, I love the place since the improvements there:), the condition of the course was second to none last weekend. Myself and my workmates played the castle and faithlegg last week on our annual outing and I have to say they left a lot to be desired:(, some serious cutbacks on maintenance. we play the three every year about this time but we are thinking of doing dunmore, rosslare and maybe west waterford or goldcoast next year.

Tramore is the best course in Waterford now - I'd definately drop that in next time you're down.

what great logic to slate a golf course, i'd say logically your game wasnt up to it and your fitness struggled on a few minor hills,

Hazel Grove: average course, fantastic club!!!!

Ah steady on.....Hazel Grove is not an average golf course, it may well be a great "club", but the course has to be one of the lowest standard GUI affiliated courses possible. Fair play if you enjoy it, but objectively, its very very very very poor.

I played Corbalis about 4 weeks ago ,I really enjoyed it but the last four holes are such a disappointment considering the 14 before it.

They also are quite dangerous and cause a lot of hold ups,in particular the shared fairway on 15-16

Also some twat took the flag from the 17th ,and as it was first time we played that caused some problems.

I quite like Elm Green -Greens are awful but its close to the M50 cheap and cheerfull -Ideal for begginners

I played Moyvalley a few weeks ago and was a bit disappointed considering the money that must have been spent on the course etc (but not the worst course by any means....)

Leopardstown is a close one, though....

When did you last play it purple? Played it earlier in the year and the place was in pretty good nick. Greens were a bit slow though. Haven't been since spring though. Way back when we had summer last April ;)

Admittedly, it's been a long time since I played it (for good reason) so the conditioning may have improved but that doesn't improve the design of the holes. There's one hole towards the end of the back nine, I think it's a par 3 where you are hitting to an elevated green where the green slopes away from you!?! Absolute crazy/trick golf!

sure what challenge would there be if we were hitting to flat greens all the time!:)

Not much challenge in fairness, I don't mind a slopy green but that one is just impossible!

Just searched this thread with keyword "rathbane" and to my amazement it returned no matches.

Rathbane in Limerick must rank high up there in this category. I cant think of a worse one within a 30 mile radius of Limerick city.

They put a lot of money into it recently and in fairness the improvement to the tee boxes and bunkers are quite noticeable. But in comparison to the surrounding courses its well below par.

Problem is the small things, like missing timber staked yardage markers, pin position lower flags loose and never in correct positions. Never water in the miserable 2 ball washers on the course. Mud paths around tee boxes.

I mean how hard is it to fix these little things!!!! Why cant they dig a hole, put a brick in the ground and paint the bloody things for distance markers.

Just carelessness that could be easily rectified with little to no cost involved IMO.

    Rant over now!!!!!:)

You should send them a suggestion letter, or even offer to do the work?

Old Thread - was looking up Seafield and found it here.

Played Seafield today - well named , field by the sea.

I agree with it being in this thread. Awfull place. The only thing going for it is the view. It even tries to stay away from the view, sending you into someones house. odd place.

Greens off to left and right of where you think you are going. A shared green that is silly, a field - age won't even help it.

    35 euro a round :eek::eek::eek::eek::confused::confused::confused::confused::confused:

Worst I've ever played was Glenlo Abbey. Stayed at the hotel a couple of years ago and was looking forward to playing it, expecting it to be nice. Big disappointment

The Foxrock Fannies will not be happy ........ although, you are right in some ways as its a very basic easy track. However, its a beginners course and an ideal place to learn the game. Hyacinth and the gang can play away to their hearts content without a care in the world, happy days and long may they continue there. :P

+1 Frankfield is just awful! If we had snow however it would make an ideal ski slope!

Funny you say that, a girl died there a few years back when using it as a ski slope...................think the place should just be shut up, range facilities are good but it's not a golf course!
