They are on sale yeah, I bought mine there about 2 weeks ago.

Ok, so wtf is a multi-permit? On the map delegating spaces to people, there are large areas marked as multi-permit and really, have you seen the amount of space allocated to students? Were a certain amount of permits sold which would only cover the space provided or if you have paid for a permit might you still find yourself left without a parking space?

A multi-permit is a carpark where either staff or students can park. If you have a permit it does not guarantee you a parking space.

Yes, the beauty of this scheme is there are more permits than spaces. It makes sense right?

Well they better be ready for one almighty tantrum from this gal right here if I can't find a space!
(Oh thanks for clearing up the multi-permit confusion)

But you buy the permit on condition that you know there are more permits than spaces. It's in the terms and conditions. The whole thing is a farce.

Gotta start reading terms and conditions on stuff! :o

I'm not saying you shouldn't complain as such, just think you're better off complaining about why anyone has to pay in the first place.

I assume the rationale behind this(more permits than spaces) is that the person won't be using their space all the time,
thus leaving it open if someone else with a permit to use it.

I have a sneaking suspicion that they're not just selling a few dozen more to allow for people not turning up the odd time. But I don't know the exact figures.

I bought a permit a few weeks ago, does it come in the post? If not when and where can I collect it?

Doesn't say when or where I can collect it though..
I can't exactly drive in the first day and park and not have the permit.

    Also
Please ensure you supply your correct NUI Maynooth e-mail address in the field provided to allow the Traffic Management Team contact you. We will contact you by e mail within 3-5 working days of receipt of this application.

I just gave them my regular email address and haven't heard a peep since. The money was taken from my account immediately though..

Contact the Traffic Management Team (anyone else think this is probably just some bloke from Security?)?

Yes APCOA are tardy with everything except snatching your money and clamping your car. I find phoning or talking to someone face-to-face is better than email, Michellenman. I kept phoning their Dublin branch back in March when we got the permit last year as they didn’t have a Maynooth branch then (do they now? If so ring it. If not, ring the Dublin branch and keep harrassing! That’s what I do. You’ve paid for it, they’ve accepted your money, they should be on the ball). My advice keep sending emails and keep ringing till someone addresses your query. I got my permit today and I only applied last week but mine was just a reissue as I had one last year.
They included this competition to convince people to carshare. Carshare and you can enter a competition to win a cup of coffee and a muffin...

A whole cup of coffee? Wow.

Hey Evita, I rang and left a message with the traffic management people in Maynooth. He rang me back within ten minutes to explain what had happened. He's currently moving office and isn't sure which office he's going to so can't give people a place to pick them up just yet but will be sending out an email to all those who have applied as soon as he knows. He was really really nice about it, said that he had received my application but that there has been a big back log because people have been applying for the permits before they've registers and it's causing some confusion.

The use of permits won't be enforced until Monday 26th of September either and he assured me that everyone would have their permits well in advance of this date :)

Yes, *and* a muffin. I don't know if you share it with the person you car share with or not... :p I threw it in the bin straight away but it was summink to that effect.

Of course car sharing is all well and good but not if you live in the arsehole of nowhere where no-one else is going anywhere near NUI Maynooth and also if you work sporadic hours in NUIM.

Edit: Ah, that's great you have it sorted because these things can just be a lot of hassle when most people are busy enough. It's horrible being in limbo but at least you're sorted now. All the best :)

Maybe you're meant to spill the boiling coffee in your crotch while driving around the one way system too? :pac: Why would you throw a muffin in the bin though, u is mad :P

;) Well you see LR I fink you'd have to enter an exclusive competition first. They don't just give muffins and coffee away like that. You might be in with a chance to win one though if you car share.
Yeah I'm not an APCOA fan. It's disgusting what the college is doing. But as well for peeps in the country there is often no public transport and no-one to share with so private transport may be your only option, ya know? My tuppence. Ho hum.

Ah I get you, you didn't throw the muffin away, you throw the entry form away. Was wondered what sane person would throwaway baked goodness :pac:

Yep, it's pretty disgusting considering the climate we're currently entering with fees on the horizon and the general cost of living increasing.

Just got the email that says 'Parking permits will not be issued unless students are fully registered' :(. Guess it means people who cant afford fees yet also have the joys of paying €80 fines?
