Sorry if this is in the wrong place but figured you guys might be best able to help me.

I can solder but know basically nothing about electronics. Inspired by an Irish robotics club workshop I saw at electric picnic I want to build a really simple guitar amp powered by a 12v batter that I can retro fit to an old electric guitar.

I have an 8ohm speaker, a 1/4" jack input, a 12v battery clip, a couple of potentiometers (5k and 10k i think), a load of capacitors & resistors and a soldering iron and to be honest I have no idea what to do with it all :)

Anyone point me in the right direction? The simple the better.
