Ian called me Friday and then Leanne called on Monday about an hour after my call I got the confirmation email. Did you not get anything of the phone??? I was the same when the signal was breaking worrying I would miss anything.

Do many people have to move to dublin or elsewhere to do this apprenticeship if they get it??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43 higgs23

There are four different areas to do it but maybe I'm in Kildare so only an hour drive to Dublin not the worst. Hopefully could do apprenticeship in Portlaoise though because thats a 20 minute drive away. Fingers crossed.

if i get it i'll more than likely have to move, although portlaoise might suit for a while as its only a 45min drive, but would still prefer to live in portlaoise if i get it

I will deffinetly have to move, but on our assessment day I think they did say that they would try to accomodate you as best the could, that they have training centres in Sligo, Athlone and the likes.. but you would still have to go other places as the apprenticeship moved on.. but thats just how I took it up..

First 6 months will be in dublin anyway then

    Dublin

    Dundalk

    Drogheda

    Portlaoise

Id have to move too as the commute would be too much on a daily basis although dundalk is an easy hours drive

Its been a long long drawn out process so you'd like to think things will speed up a small bit alright

before all the added dates for assessment (i.e. last week and this week), the provisional start date for the start of the program (employment) was October 10th/12th ... unless they hurry up the process I can see this being pushed back a week or two with all the candidates to go through.

did my assesment round the 24th or thereabouts so will be keeping an eye when you's get the phonecall :-)

Doubt to hear from interviewees as they would be putting themselves at a huge disadvantage by telling everyone what to expect. Meaning the later the interview the better prepared you are!:pac:

don't really see the advantage unless it were a technical interview,

an interview is an interview ...

I for one prefer the challenge (probably get a PFO now haha !)

It is probably the same structure for everyone seems on how everyone is going for the same positions. Therefore knowing the format and the structure of questions is clearly easier to prepare than going in blindsided. Maybe not but like you said it'll be a challenge :) Good Luck!

more than likely it will, with maybe a pool of questions, but there is only so much you can ask in an interview,

any on-mass job interviews, army and the likes usually have 3 or 4 "must ask" questions related to the job ....

being eircom it'll most likely be technology, history/future of the company, team work or customer service orientated ...

off hand, the usual basic questions on the four subjects are handy enough to find ...

knowing the questions from one interview, acing them, and making a balls of the rest of the interview isn't too much of an advantage, or what if the questions don't come up at all ...

best to be all rounded than focusing on specific points ...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 43 higgs23

Completely agree after all it is you that your selling. As for technical questions they should be minimal as they will be training you in what you need to know. Like you said will be more about past experiences and how you handle yourself. Well hopefully I'll find out in the morning!Daunting :)

exactly what I was thinking ....

the assesments would have sussed pretty much if you were numerically, litterae and vocationally able to take on the apprenticeship ... only thing that's left is to see who "you" are ...

hence the assesment day with the team work, independent work, and communication/customer skills being assesed throughtout the day ...

I'd imagine the above three will be the main points again, with any technical knowledge being a bonus ....

35 mins for an interview isnt too bad, been in three, hour long ones with 3 or 4 person panels getting HR and technical questions fired at you, now they were rough haha

lads i think youre winding your selfs up. I think what happens , happens. For exmple if you dont have the tech knowledge you wont gain it overnight now will you? I think that they already know who they want to hire and they just need to finish the process they started.
