I do admit that I hate these ads.
    But they are nothing new.
I didn't understand the big fuss over them because it's been going on for years.
There's worse on any random music video.
And I assure you, I'm neither fat, or ugly.

Couldn't really care less about the ads.. but what sort of mindless gobshite would buy crisps just because the ad contains boobs?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,770 ✭✭✭LeeHoffmann

Only ugly yokes would complain about these adds.
In other words: don't complain about these ads. Otherwise I'm gonna call you an ugly yoke. No offence but I think people can withstand that blow to their self-esteem

LeeHoffmann would you mind stop kissing Eve_Dublin's ass all over this thread.

I'm sure she gets the message by now, and it is distracting from the issue we are trying to engage in.

    Sensationalist media once again.

Seems to be a double standard in relation to these sort of ads though,
I suppose it just depends on what gender is featured.

Very impressed with Sorcha's High Fielding skills in this video, Whatever county she is from should stick her in midfield straight way.

I could ate crisps and watch her play all day long :D

Why are the girls chesting the ball if they are playing gaa football?

Because girls think every situation can be solved by their bewbs.

It's a ratio thing. If every second ad had a guy with his bits hanging out, you'd have a point.

That's not the way it is. In fact, guys still draw on a 20 year old diet coke at to make 'comparisons'.

    Tayto , now there's a crisp. :D

Agreed. Sexualisation of males in ads tends to be limited to celeb endorsements of overpriced wankery.

The portrayal of blokes as bumbling fools seems to be a lot more common.

As an aside, i find the hunky dory ads make me want to have sex, not hunky dorys.

Eating a pack of Salt and Vinegar Hurky Dorys is an exercise is masochism.

    Beautiful tasty stingy painful masochism.

All their other flavours are dirt though.

    Meh.

It's a pretty stupid campaign, and if I were a woman (I don't think I am) I'd probably be annoyed by them, but not really care a great deal about it.
I'd imagine that's how most women feel about it.

It's done with both men and women in ads, and I find it tiresome and childish when advertisers try to get cheap publicity by trying to be sexy with either women or men in ads.
It's a bit silly and most people aren't affected by it.

In the interest of full and open disclosure, I should point out that I like boobs.

And salt & vinegar Hunky Dorys.

    Just not together.

It looks like Hunky Dorys are desperately trying to scrabble together some of the glory they got from running the other ad. They must be very disappointed with the 'handful of complaints' :pac:

Nonsense. The number of ads where men are fools/sex objects/the butt of the joke dwarfs the number of ads where women are portrayed in that way. The fact that you seem to think there was a single sexist Diet Coke ad 20 years back sort of discredits your views on current advertising trends tbh (although Diet Coke seem to have adopted a different strategy in the last couple of years).

Just don't get too close to it.

Where do you think they get the cheese & onion flavouring from?

If you were a woman it would annoy you ???

Why ??? Why does this ad annoy people more than any other add with scantily clad women ?

    I don't get the fuss.

Also those annoyed by the Hunky Dory's add don't ever go to Germany - your minds will implode when you see the ads they have over there
