    it's on C4

Not available in manila! Apart from UK/Ireland, rest of the wrold missed 8k of the race to watch 3rd round of the discus and shots of long jumpers walking around.

It's pretty easy to see why the sport struggles to attract viewers and sponsors.

Where the hell does a 27.02 runner get that kinda kick off a race at near PB pace in a race with constant surging?

Salazaar's been saying all year they haven't done any work on his finishing speed yet, so perhaps there's something to it.

He Closed in 53 not buying that and has out kicked Merga (a notable kicker) previously this season

They have to sort this out. It'd be like focusing on Jamie Carragher for 5 minutes when Suarez has the ball at the other end of the pitch. Surely having a small square at the top corner of the screen with the other event could be accommodated.

He's clearly much better than 27.02. His SB this year is from the one 10k he ran (27.09) where he lapped the whole field on a solo run.

I had never heard of the guy before I priced up the race the other day and I'm a geek. Where have they been hiding him?

He didn't win though! That's Salazaar's point. Obviously his natural finishing speed is exceptional, but they haven't done any specific work on it. When he can tolerate the training loads and all the extra strength and conditioning work he's been introduced to this year then Salazaar is going to work on the final piece of the jigsaw, finishing speed.

Did they say he was a world junior champion?

World Junior 10k in 2006 and world junior cross in 2008. PBs are from 2006 and he seems not to have improved again until this year.

    Yes, apparently he's now 22.

    Prob BriandeRunner (had Blake @ 12/1 backed:D)

Bolt out. Holy ****! I despise this rule. Not just for Bolt, but for any sprinter.
And it's not unbelieveable. The slightest nerve or jump and you are out. Even Bolt is susceptible.

12/1 yohan blake baby :D never so happy to see someone dq'd

    tough for Bolt.

It's a harsh rule in fairness.

im speechless...i cannot believe Bolt false started.

surely now they have to change the rule because it has taken away the biggest name in athletics from running in the 100m final.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 311 ✭✭Larry Brent

The one that got away for LaMaitre. Not himself in lane 8.

I disagree with the rule, but changing it cos Bolt false starts would be crap. He doesn't need to do it, it's his own fault. Probably LeMaitre's best chance of gold there, considering it's missing the 3 best in the world

Haha, the rules are there for everyone, not just the Usain Bolts of the sport.

i agree it was his own fault.....but look what happened Joanne Cuddihy this morning as well...she trained hard every day for the last few years for today and one minor mistake has cost her the chance to compete on the worlds biggest stage.

    unfair rule.

Exactly, where were the complaints after Ohurugu, or Cuddihy and everyone else...

No Bolt, Gay or Powell in the final. You wouldn't want to be cynical.

It is unfair I agree, prefer the 1 warning for the whole field, but they've all seen other athletes go out already, why take a chance with it. You can get unlucky, but Bolt was out a long way ahead of it

One story that will completely be swallowed up by the Bolt fiasco but deserves a mention. Kim Collins wins his fourth 100m medal at worlds at the age of 35. His first medal was 10 years ago. Very few runners in history (if any that i can think of) have medalled at four seperate championships

yeah i was delighted for him to win a medal.....coming from such a tiny nation he deserves great credit for his achievements throughout his career especially today at the age of 35.

It's a fair rule because it's exactly the same for every athlete.

The previous rule was unfair and illogical. Some athletes could false start and just get a warning, while others were DQ'd on their first false start.

The previous rule was even worse, as you mention. I don't know what to think now. The original rule was the best, but I gues for time delays and all that it wasn't good.

Completely agree, he is one of my favorite athletes. A truly clean sprinter and a nice guy.
