Regarding the notion of profiteers buying up the Touchpad, isn't that just so much sour grapes?
I got a 32gb one in Harvey Normans on Monday, just read the signs online of an imminent price drop, given the actions of the group in Oz and strolled in.
Most bricks and mortar stores sold one per customer and the rest is history.
So, please, get off the box.
Some people got lucky, some unlucky, such is life.
As for the resellers, they will be always with us and you have a choice to buy from them, if you reckon its a ripoff don't buy from them!

No people ahead of you getting them?

Nope, was first person through the door.
    Queue? How many people?

None, I was there from 0850, manager said no store (argos) on the island had them.
    May forget about it so.

im gettimg very tempted with it. i have until tuesday to decide though a new camera will probably take priority...sigh

Beware: The current cheaply priced one has an ARM 6 processor and a single touch screen, this is the one being sold cheap-ish in Europe and.. currently, for $99 Australian dollars, in Australia.

YOU WILL NOT be running Flash on this, with ARM 6, it just isn't going to happen, it is more or less a Jumbo sized budget Android phone, with the same processing crunch as say.. a Samsung Europa.

It is a nice compact tablet if your needs are simple, but it bears no relation to the ability of the HP TouchTablet, if you get it with ideas about the performance being equal, you'll be disappointed. I did have this tablet in mind for myself, as all I need is very basic browsing and the Google mail app, along with the default youTube player.

There's a beefed up version of the zte v9 due to replace the ARM6 version at a later date.

thanks for the advice. i'll hold off till i get home and hope for a touchpad.
am looking at cameras on tueaday with a local in lisbon.

    Wanna sell me yours!!:D:D:D:D

I agree that it all came down to luck on where you would get one, Also maybe those who were anticipating the price drop here decided to source one then.

My guess is though, There is a shop out there somewhere that has a good few in stock and hasn't dropped there price yet, But they will and when they do!!

    BOOM!!

    instant orders away!!

not at the time I made my reservation....

Ok, fair enough. But they can refuse a sale if they want, simple as.

Only fair 1 per customer at that price anyway with the demand.

To be honest, I think thats what is happening with expansys, they arent just saying they have no stock, they are saying they want to give a fair price.

    Any word on Carphone Warehouse?

CPW only have ONE Samsung Galaxy 10.1 in the entire country (Galway) so I seriously wouldn't be banking on them getting any TP's.

Did CPW ever have stock not on website, people mention ringing them, is there some inside info just read back about 8 pages and dont see any.

    Hi Joey,

Yeah they deffo had them on the site for internet order only (none in stock in any of the stores) I had it open on a tab along with the other sites waiting for the price drop.

They pulled off the site on Tuesday - Twitter contact has no info.

I don't hope of buying any touchpad anymore from Argos and Amazon as my ordrers were all cancelled. Anyways if you have spare touchpads probably 32 gig, I'd love to buy them as I'm doing a project that will soon help the droid community. Just pm me so we can agree with the price. Its pitty that the one from adverts were removed. Thanks lads!

I noticed something early this morning. At roughly 1am someone posted info on CPW possibly having Touchpads. Someone else responded to it. About 1.5 hours later all references to it were gone. They were removed/deleted.
Only a select few have this power.

In fairness to the chap we don't know if he bought it for €140 last week or over €500 the week before. Hasn't a chance at selling for €350 all the same.

    Then:
    (a) Why did they let you reserve it in the first place.
    (b) Why did other people who reserved get them.

Watched a few auctions on ebay in UK and it seems easy enough now to pick up a 32GB for circa £220 (€250) and then maybe shipping of £15 or you may have to get it to a UK address. Wasn't frantic bidding either so if you have a price you are prepared to pay then you will get one handy enough.

Considering I would have bitten off a hand to get it in Argos for €145 then €250 ain't too bad. If I had got my lazy a$$ down to an Argos or PCW an hour earlier during the week I probably would have had one:rolleyes: - so can't complain too much (Yes, I tried both but was too late..)

Its a sellers market so don't have an issue with "profiteers" - no one ever complains when buying Apple and they are known for legendary margins! (For the uninformed - margin = profit)

Anyway, reckon in a week or so these prices will come down a little more.

Don't know what it is on the allure of "tech"... I got an asus transformer and its a fantastic piece of kit, and look forward to and iPad 3 if they put the retina display on it! But I just want to try get my hands on a Touchpad and get a look... before it gets moved to one side with the BB Torch, the SGS, The PSP... need I go on! Sure plenty can relate.

For those that are real keen on a Touchpad - just bide your time and you will pick them up. I would imagine that HP have lots of inventory of these; it was always a HP problem to make too many of something and push it all into the distributor channel and then claim a massive quarter; bit like when IRFU said the rugby internationals last autumn were all sold out - when in fact they had just pushed all the tickets to the clubs and left them with the problem of selling them.

Just my thoughts.... Now has anyone got a good Argos reservation code for me:D

What site was the touchpad on sale on?

It was not on any site. The missing posts were posted around 01:00 and roughly said,

Post 1) The guy called into CPW in Mahon yesterday at about 18:00. He was surprised to see one on display. There were none in stock but the assistant said they might be getting more in. They refused to sell the one on display.
Post 2) The next post suggested that there might be a cue at CPW stores in the morning.

These are both missing. Was someone trying to keep this info for themselves?

There is one post at about 03:30 were someone says they might ring CPW in the morning. Without the previous post this meaning nothing.

btw. I called in this morning and they do have one on display but wont sell it. It goes back to head office or something. But now that iv had one in my hands I want it even more.

My name is Bromley52 and I am an addict.
