While I applaud your skills, I would respectfully argue that the problem was with the twat who jumped on the brakes, and the twats behind you not respecting safety distances, not with the camera designed to catch dangerous twats racing on the motorway?

Why did he jump on the brakes again? Ah yeah, because there was a speed camera ahead... :)
However, I agree, he was a twat and probably shouldn't be driving but the point is that while there were bad drivers around me, the speed camera contributed to their bad driving.

Exactly and there's plenty of intrinsically stupid drivers on the road, we ALL know that and seen examples of it. Merely holding a license unfortunately does not mean that you're a good driver.
Yes, but there has to be a limit to how far we go to mollycoddle the odd fool. The driver r3nu4l desacribes, for example, may equally have taken fright at a police car, or even a motorway maintenance van. I can completely see the danger to tailgaters of cameras only visible when the driver is almost on top of them, but if they're properly positioned (ie in front of a school) and well-signposted in advance I think the advantages will far outweigh the disadvantages.

Some people instinctively break when they see them, even when they are already travelling at below the speed limit. This causes crashes.

I'd blame people stupidity in those cases so, not the camera.

fI "insticntiveey" brake everytime I pass a pedestrian on the footpath is it pedestrians fault if more crashes occur around me?

Either way, regardless of how stupid people are that brake when they encounter a camera others still should not be crashing in to them.
