    Ok. I give in.
Any chance that one of you lovely people have a reservation code that is looking for a Kerry man to give it a nice home?
    It would be greatly appreciated.

    P.S.
Did you do something with your hair?
    It looks great!

After this whole debacle. I won't be shoppIng with either amazon or argos ever again. I've published my feelings on twitter and encouraged others to do the same. They can't fcuk with their customers and get away with it.

To be fair, I think argos messed around people the least!

I picked up the official HP case in Argos this morning. The manager thought I was being given a touchpad and came over and asked the girl serving me did I have a reservation. So it sounds like some stores have been told by head office to honour reservations?

i'm awaiting a text from dun laoighre. i'll pop down later as its meant to be collected today and i have heard no word form them otherwise.

its strage that no one here has mentioned the fact Argos are adding a couple of euros onto the order. this shows what they genreally do and that the are in the habit of having higher prices. well beyond the RRP.

which is 99 and 129 respectvely.

Yeah in fairness don't make statements your can't stand behind. I already hate the galway argos because of it's carpark but I still have to go there a few times a year because no one else has X or Y. And hell, Amazon we're lucky they offer free shipping to Ireland... I save loads shopping there vs. rip-off irish shops.

But dabs.ie, on the other hand, are the evil spawn of beelzebub and will burn! burn! burn!

    ps: spare code anyone? :D

tell u what, u give me your touchpad. I will give u both, yes both my un-honoured reservation codes and see how u feel about Argos then!

I think most argos stores who got stock honoured reservations the stores who cancelled resevations simply didn't get the stock that they were supposed to due to the crazy demand. I don't think it's a case that the staff just kept them. The majority of people who did get touchpads seem to have got them from argos imo.

In the email you got immediately after ordering, does the email timestamp say 8:10pm or 9:10pm i.e. does the email timestamp reflect French time or Irish time?

I'm trying to work out what time I ordered, Monday is all a bit of a blur to me, so this info will help.

I picked my Argos store carefully - it said in stock when I placed my reservations - got texts to collect etc- guess what - shop claim they never had any??

The Argos stock reservation is based on on-line stock check syetem. If there is no stock you can't reserve the item. If you managed to reserve an touchpad and you dind't get it, someone else did. And by pure coincidence it would be Argos employees.

Anyone got any codes for the Cork stores that they would be willing to pass on....please....perrrrty please?

ok so argo are lieing through their teeth

even the twitter helpers, who are helpful no doubt.

the excuse i got was that the couldn't ring me as there was no number, well how did i get a text then with a reservation code.

I dont mind not getting one, its annoying, but ling outright is stupid and annoying.

Anywho I had a code for argo today in dun laoirghe, it's dead in the water. nothgin left anywhere apparently.

so thats it i rekon. on to a nook color, from barnes and noble refurb ebay shipped to dubline with bongous for €174, very tempting

In the body of the email there's no time shown on the order confirmation.
The time for the email in gmail is 20:10, but this is always adjusted based on the user's time zone to show the relevant time.

Just got off the phone from Tallaght, they cancelled all orders :-(

If anyone has any spare Dublin codes, would really appreciate it.

Was in argos in longford today. They have 6 which are all reserved... One fella reserved two, but he's only getting one... Even if people don't pick up the reservations, the manager was saying he was first in line and there were more than six staff wanting them too, so no go in longford. I liked the managers honesty though saying he was getting one first.. I'd do the same!

Looks like FNAC are starting to cancel other orders....

    http://twitpic.com/6beizw

It appears that they have got definite stock numbers from their supplier and are sending two emails: one to those whose orders will be honoured in the coming days, and another whose orders they cant fill.

Well thats fair enough. Its not like he is skipping the queue or anything.

I'm hearing that they're shipping the EU stock from finland and hp UK to the US because of high demand over there...

The only way reason they's do that would be if it makes financial sense. If the pads are already here, the UK or other EU countries, it'll cost more to ship them further. As for the ones that were still in the factory or not so far along the supply chain, it may make more sense to ship them directly to the US. Other that that, unless they expect app sales in the US to outweigh the rest of the world, I can't see any other reason to.

They've already taken tonnes more orders and pre-orders than they can cover, they've given no update to all their existing orders and now they're putting it back up for order again?

Use the option to pay by bank transfer. At least you wont have any pre-authorisation etc on your credit card for the full price
