Update on eurostore.palm.com, not looking good for the expansys orders

    Update Thur 25th 10pm :
This product is no longer available for sale. We do not expect this position to change.
Customers who had already placed an order with Palm Eurostore have been sent an email communication in relation to their order.

    Dear Palm Eurostore customer,

We regret to have to inform you that Palm Eurostore will NOT now be in a position to fulfill orders that have been received for the HP TouchPad 16Gb WiFi ( Part Number: FB405UA#ABB ) or the HP TouchPad 32Gb WiFi ( Part Number: FB368UA#ABB ).

You will probably be well aware of the very high level of interest and demand for these products in Europe in light of what had transpired in the US where significant price reductions had taken place. We know a lot of you may also have placed orders in the expectation that a similar price reduction would have been announced in Europe. In good faith, and after communication with HP, we at the Palm Eurostore allowed pre-orders to be taken for these products at the standard price. We fully intended and expected to be able to fulfill these orders and if a price reduction were to be announced then we would have applied that new price to the orders.

A decision, wholly outside of our control, has been made which meant that this expectation will not now be met. This decision means that we can no longer obtain any inventory of these products. Therefore, regretfully, we have no alternative but to cancel your order for these products and to process a full and complete refund of your money ( for those orders where the funds have already been deducted ). You will receive an email directly when the cancellation takes place – we expect to have all orders cancelled before close of business Fri 26th August. Please note that your bank or card issuing bank may take up to several days to show this refund on your account or statement.

We offer you our sincerest apologies for what has happened and can only ask for your understanding of our actions in a confusing and evolving situation. Again I wish to re-iterate that we acted in good faith and tried everything we could to try to secure inventory for these orders – but to no avail.

Should there be any new developments in relation to these products becoming available – and we have no information to suggest that will happen - we will contact you directly and try to ensure you are given priority or special consideration in some way to obtain these.

Yours sincerely, Palm Eurostore, Customer Support Team

Customer Service staff will not have any further information - it will be communicated directly here on this page. Thank you for your patience.

No further update is expected on this item.

I ordered 12 minutes before that customer.. and have heard nothing.

Like I said already (somewhere in this thread), priority is more than likely being given to French customers.

Yeah I think the same, but the fact that no ones order has been cancel leaves me thinking fnac could be getting more in to try and honor everyone's order

Yes but not everyone knows about it, and going by the amount of posts in it, not many of us do. Just helping fellow boardsies out, no harm in that.

    Yep, that's why I posted it. ;)

no touchpads in Argos by Brian Clayton, on Flickr

They're out of the 32,16 AND 8GB models? .... That doesn't mention the 64GB version...that must mean they have that version. :)

    I'd say they're naively thinking there's a possibility they'll get more in..

.. but I don't think it's likely in the slightest.

Mine is showing as "awaiting stock" but not holding out much hope to be honest.

did you all get this email from expansys??
    Dear Sir/Madam,

Thank you for your pre-order for the HP TouchPad. Unfortunately, due
to the unprecedented demand for this gadget, stock levels across the
UK and Europe are incredibly low.

We wanted to let you know that we are working extremely hard to get
our hands on more stock as we know how popular the TouchPad has
become. Please bear with us while we try and secure more TouchPads,
and we promise to keep you up to date if and when stock arrives.

If we are unable to complete your order please rest assured that you
will receive a full and complete refund.

We sincerely apologise for the delay, but hope to be able to let you
know for certain the situation in regards to your order very soon.

    Kind regards,

On the off chance that there are any spare codes floating about I'd love one...

Where did all the warehouse stock go?

Elara got 100, Argos must have got loads. Looks like Amazon got 0, same as most online retailers by the looks of it.

Was at Argos Dun Laoghaire this morning.

Manager said it was "extremely unlikely" that they would get more stock in.

He said the mid-Sept restock date that has been bandied about is from before all this madness kicked off and restock at that stage is again unlikely.

Well at least it is good to have closure, just got this from Argos CS.
I am sorry that your reservation was cancelled. HP did not supply the requested amount of units to fulfil our customer demand and as such some stores had to cancel reservations. We were not made aware of this in advance.

Customer service is very important to us and I am sorry that you did not receive the level of service that I would expect. Please accept my apologies for the distress that this incident has caused you and I hope that this does not deter you from shopping with us in the future.

I picked one up in Jervis yesterday at lunch time with a reservation as did a couple of other people in the office. Two of us got texts to say they were available for pick up and the other person didn't but still got his.

Some people in France have received this email from FNAC (machine translated to English).

During the checkout process, we planned shipment of your package August 23, 2011.
However, the period of supply from our supplier being longer than expected, we may experience a setback that will be about 2-3 weeks.
We present you our apologies for the inconvenience.

They've been constantly tweeting that there is no change. I hope they have some news one way or the other by close of business today.

To all they had reservation in Argos. I was unlucky to reserve my touchpad at Dundrum. I rang them wensday and they were waiting for delivery. My reservation was still standing. I rang them yesterday and they told me all reservation were cancelled and it's the HQ order. So I called UK HQ and they contacted Dundrum while I was waiting on the phone. After few minutes they confirmed, yes we cancelled all reservations and there is no any touchpads left (reserved or not) in any branches. I asked to speak with an manager and again that was confirmed by her. However meantime I read here that some people were still getting their reserved touchpads. I rang one of those branches and they said, yes we still have two reserved touchpads, but none avilable without reservation. So I rang HQ again and asked same questions as before. And again they rang Dundrum and confirmed that all reservations were cancelled. So I asked why in some branches people are still getting their touchpads. This time rep was confused as I gave her address of the branch. I asked if in this case can I go there and get one of those reserved ones. She said, yes you can. So I went into this branch and I gave them ref. number of my previous conversation with HQ. They contacted HQ and after couple minutes they all went on the back of the shop and were discussing something. When they come back to me they said Dundrum shouldn't cancel reservations and they are not going to cancel their. Anyway the bottom line is:
All persons with cancelled reservations were robbed by Argos staff as they taken over most of reserved touchpads. HQ can't tell you straightaway "yes, our staff was greedy and that's why you lost your touchpad", instead they have to confirm local Argos versions. The only thing you can do is to ring HQ at +44 8456403030 and complain. It won't give you any touchpads, but at least maybe next time they will think for a minute before doing something that disgraceful like this.

After this whole debacle. I won't be shoppIng with either amazon or argos ever again. I've published my feelings on twitter and encouraged others to do the same. They can't fcuk with their customers and get away with it.
