I have one in my expansys basket too, but I don't think that matters. It says pre-order in green on the basket page. It would probably just get cancelled if I placed an order anyway!

Someone wants a bike for their touchpad

At least he's not gouging, looks like he only wants an honest trade.

    lol

Thanks to everyone here in this thread, finally got one today in Argos. Very happy with it. Took a long time, had given up hope after the amazon thing. To the people who didnt get one yet, dont give up, there is still a chance you might get one, its low but its not completely impossible to get one, especially with more stock being released in the USA soon. Great help this thread was. Hopefully the lurkers here contributed nothing, but just took, and who got one because of this thread will at least sign up and say thanks. The least you could do.

Now to dig into this! :D

No ill feelings against any of the ones who got a Touchpad but I really wish "Look at my new Touchpad" posts would get their own thread. I'm getting a bit sick of looking at them.

Had a reservation for yesterday thru saturday. Got a text this morning to say that it was in stock. Just collected it :D

I reserved Sunday night - Blackpool Cork

Thank you so much for posting this Tweaky. I hadn't included my mobile number with my reservation so didn't get the update this morning. After no stock turning up in Blackpool yesterday I had given up on the whole thing (more to do with another store not honouring a reservation where the stock was actually in store, rather than the reservation being dependent on a delivery) and was only half-heartedly glancing though this thread when I spotted your post.

    Very happy now :D

He mentioned trading it for a bike from the "Cycle to work" scheme, they wouldn't have paid full whack for it either. Also he said if he had to take cash he'd only want €170 and that included touchstone and wireless keyboard, that's fair.

Argos deserve a lot of credit over this.
Okay there are a few problems but at least they supplied the vast majority with their HP's.
They have taken some stick I'n last few days but have come up trumps.
Maybe people should remember that going forward.
Now if Argos are reading this and have a spare one in Dublin and are looking for a home............,, ;)

he's not going to take cash.
cycle to work scheme still means that the bikes are worth what they are worth.
he suggests that people who bought them under the scheme were just trying to abuse the system, though he himself did the same thing in buying something he did not need/want.

I was in Stephen's Green earlier so I popped into Argos on the off chance. New stock checkers allow you to check stock in all the other shops. There are none in stock anywhere in Dublin. Today anyway. So if you've no reservation, no chance.

If we drop the "I gots mah Touchpad, look!" posts, can we please drop the "I need Touchpad! Gimme reservation thx. I'm a dev I swear." posts too?

Or, just let people show their happiness, don't be so bitter :pac:

I think we should start a fake bidding war! And then at the end of it when he agrees we all say no sorry you are a c*nt.

Just back from Argos in Stephen's Green, got a text earlier to say my reservation was in, and indeed it was, so I'm now the proud owner of one 32GB Touchpad.

<3 Argos, from now on I'll use them to buy all the things.

Good luck to all those still searching and if you have a reservation don't give up hope yet.

Had three reserved (under three different reservation numbers) in Argos on the Childers Road in Limerick. Reserved Monday morning about 10:00. Got confirmation emails and texts.

Got texts a few hours ago telling me that the stock was waiting for me instore for collection.

Went down, and was told by the store manager (Marty), that all reservations made since Tuesday were cancelled, and that they were issued this morning on a first come first served basis.

    Three problems with that:

    1. My order was made Monday.
    2. I didn't get any communication from Argos telling me it was cancelled.
    3. I actually got confirmations from them that it was instore and ready for collection!

The manager reckons it the policy of Argos Nationwide. When I put it to him that others were having their reservations honoured, he simply said, well they shouldn't be.

Now, I don't want to seem bitter at all, but it seems like Argos have handled this poorly enough. It seems the policy changed from stored to store. Some peoples were honoured, and of course they were very happy. Some people seem to have walked in off the street and got them (the manager said they were issued on a first come first served), and I'm sure they won't complain about us with reservations. I think Argos need to review their automated system. If you cancel orders, let the customer know...and don't tell them they are in stock ready for collection!

sigh. I have a reservation number for argos due to collect tomorrow. phoned the store and they told me it was due on tuesday and i never collected so the unit is gone. I emailed the argos customer service desk and they said that ALL reservations were cancelled and sold FCFS. Now on this thread Im seeing murmers of argos still possibly having the units?
    Colour me confused.very confused.

Don't leave the store without another reservation. Be polite, be loud, make it out to be a big joke. There will be more so make sure you shame them into giving you a new reservation. In the meantime, get onto @argoshelpers on twitter and see what they can do.

Did anybody with a reservation code for St Stephens Green get one? I went up with a code that was supposed to be valid from today but they said they didnt get any in, having said yesterday that they would be available today ?

cant be bothered to read through the last 10 pages in the 3 hours that I've been gone.

Just collected mine in Argos Jervis. I got a reservation on the 21st August if that makes a difference to any one. The staff in there were really friendly and happy for me.

I spoke with a staff member there who said that their head office had decided to honour all reservations that had been made. I presume this meant where possible too, but if you have a reservation, you're safe.
